I should start at the beginning.
I finally found a LARGE Asian foods market in the convenient Kansas City area. I bought all sorts of stuff. I even found a mochi rice cake. Nom nom! And then... what do I spy? Tapioca pearls! I can has BUBBLE TEA! Squee!
I bring home the tapioca pearls. I follow the directions for cooking them while I brew a strong cup of tea so that I can cool it and then add milk and honey and ice. Everything is going so perfectly.
Like an alchemist on the verge of a golden creation, I put my milk and tea mixture into a pre-chilled glass, add the tapioca pearls...
And realize that I have no straws that are big enough to suck up the bubbles.
MADE. OF. FAIL.
I'm going to go drink my tea and eat the bubbles with a spoon... but it's just not the same.
*sigh*

Date: 2008-04-10 02:40 am (UTC)Brew the tea strong. About twice as strong as normal. Add honey or sugar at this point, because it dissolves more easily in hot liquid. Let it cool. Chill it in the fridge.
Take the tapioca pearls and cook them according to the directions on the package. A little longer if you like them squishier, a bit less long if you like them more firm. Drain them, rinse them in cold water, drain again.
Mix your cold tea with cold milk or cream, whichever you like. Add tapioca pearls.
USE A BIG STRAW.
Enjoy.
