Everything in Ten Minutes

Okay, I'm going to give a summary of what I've been up to in whatever I can type in about ten minutes.  A TON of stuff has happened, but I'm DEAD TIRED.  Here goes...

Just finished watching the last episode of the Kyou Kara Maou series, and it was PERFECT.  The ending was just right.  You know that warm, wibbly feeling you get when something just hits all the right notes?  That was it.  Damn it, people, WATCH IT!  If you like Harry/Draco, if you like crackfic, if you like twisted plots, and even some touching moments, all interspersed with magic and action and an awkward, unlikely boy-hero, then WATCH IT!  *cough*

Last night, I went to a Bardic Circle to which I had been invited by rourkie, and I had a wonderful time.  Must do that again.  Must bring an instrument of my own.  Wish I could wheel a piano into the hall.  Might make do with a keyboard.  Either way, great people, great hot cider, fun music, and Rourkie plays guitar very well.  Oh, and he writes music too, and he wrote one song in particular that I adored.  :D

On a similar thread... I might get pulled into doing a LARP.  Yes, me, who has avoided getting sucked into online RP's... is interested in doing a Live Action Role Play.  Hey, the people seem awesome, and... there's this character I've always wanted to play... *meep*

Work = INSANE.  Got a promotion, doing twice as much stuff, more responsibility, and running some major lab-wide events.  Doing mad-crazy hours.  Brain = oatmeal.  Mijan = exhausted.  Income = not nearly enough for the work I do.  Heh.  It's nice to be appreciated.  At least I've got job security, because right now, there's nobody else who could do my job.

Still excited over my costume awards for participating in the Masquerade at Arisia.  Definitely joining the Northern Lights Costuming Guild.  Going to do Frodo next time.  Have great idea for a skit for the next Masquerade, and the awesome people I met from Northern Lights like it.  Squee!

Fic.  Eclipse Sequel.  "Convergence".  Yes, I know, I know.  I need to finish and post the first bloody chapter.  It's almost done.  I swear. 

Original novel... I'm more determined to write it now than ever.  MUST. WRITE.

Going to the Fetish Flea this weekend in Danvers.  For those of you who went, that's the same hotel that most people stayed in for the Witching Hour.  Yay for a weekend of whips and chains, floggers and canes, corsets fishnets and handcuffs, oh my!  Very excited.  Must buy a collar for...

Oh yeah!  And the most important thing... I'm officially dating someone now!  fiona_fawkes and I met in person at Lumos, and we spent WAY too much time on the phone, and she finally came out here last weekend, and... er... well... I guess it's official!  Very excited.  *snogs her madly*  She's so awesome.

And... that's my ten minutes!  I guess it's bedtime!  Because... er... I've got another insanely long day of work tomorrow. And miraba, if you're reading this... I might not be able to make it to class tomorrow night.  It's the Oncology department's holiday party.  I know, it's January, but they decided to hold it after the holiday rush.  I'll be in touch tomorrow.

On my end, things are working out better. It looks like the rough patch has smoothed out now. After a few days apart and a lot of introspection, I decided to fight for us. We've had a good, strong relationship for eleven years, and have two children together, so there is a lot at stake. When he told me that he had fallen in love with someone online, my faith in him had been shaken. My first response had been to flee, to go back to Boston. I tried to convince myself that if he could move on so easily, so could I, but in reality, I'm still in love with him. So, *crosses fingers* we'll see.

Fetish Flea: Color me intrigued...

Work: Job security is definitely of the good. I hope that your employer values you there (and gives you a raise soon...)

Bardic Circle: Lots of fun. I've only been to one once, and it was nigh on ten years ago. I can't play an instrument worth a lick, but I sang three songs for them: Early One Morning (which is a cappella), The Scotsman, and Bogey's Bonnie Belle.

I'm so happy for you and really hope that things work out with you and Fiona. Having a person that you can trust and share your good and bad moments with is such a wonderful thing. I've been going out with my Harry for six months now and I love her more every day.

May I ask, is it difficult to have a girlfriend in the USA? I mean, do the people around you accept it, or are they uncomfortable about it? Here in Germany things are pretty open-minded officially; gay people can marry and have all the rights and duties that het couples have, but beneath the surface it's still a different story. Harry and I got in trouble at a train station once; we weren't physically attacked, but we had a mob of guys yelling insults at us. *shudders* Wasn't nice.

You want to go to a LARP? Do it, it's amazing. It's way different from those online RPGs. I've been doing Harry Potter LARP for over a year now and this May I'm going to my first Fantasy LARP. Harry and I have already created my character, and now I'm designing my costume. Harry's been going to LARPs for over three years now, she's been playing fighters, magicians, priests and an Elven bard. She's really into music and plays the piano, the harp, the guitar and a couple of different flutes. *envies*. So, next LARP time, I'll be along and I'm very excited about it.
