I got home late from work because the last kid in my Mad Science class was picked up over a half hour late.  Obnoxious parents.  Made me too late to make it to the caucus.  Fucking Kansas with its fucking caucus.  Seriously, a caucus is the DUMBEST thing in the history of modern politics.  Maybe it was a good idea back in the old days... the VERY old days... but not now.  Anyone who is working during the exact time of the caucus can't go.  I want to be able to go to the polls before work if I'm working late, or after work if I'm working early, cast my damn ballot, and then leave.  But no... I've got to be in line by a certain time in the evening, and if I'm late, I can't get in.  And then, I'd have to stay for however long it takes to argue and pester and badger people with opinions to sway them to my side.  That's STUPID.  I've already made up my mind, and if a person hasn't made up his or her mind by the time they arrive, then why the hell are they voting?  *sigh*  Whatever.

The way I figure it, I've talked to tons of people before today, swayed some people, discussed issues, and made my impact that way.  You better believe that I'll be voting in November when we're allowed to have real ballots.  But this caucus thing... fuck.  I've got a horrible headache, and even if I'd gotten out of work on time, I don't know if I could handle the caucus process right now when I want to get the hell away from most forms of noise and human life.  Why can't I just get a piece of paper, write down my choice, and leave?  That's what normal people in normal places do, right???  Oh, Kansas... I smite thee.

So, I'm sick.  My mother was a teacher for twenty years, and she told me that the first year she taught, her students gave her every flu, cold, and other minor illness going around.  I'm teaching with Mad Science, and so I'm essentially a petri dish for every virus and bacteria that those little walking incubators called children are carrying.  I feel like crap.  Head hurts.  Tummy ache.  Sinuses.  Nose.  Sneezing all afternoon.  I need love.  I keep seeing this [personal profile] feedbackmeme mentioned on my f-list, so... I'm in.

Here's my post.

I can has peppermint tea nao, yez?

I know that some of you don't like to see too much political stuff on your flist.  Feel free to ignore this, if that's the case.  I do, however, want to point out that when I bring something political to my LJ, it's because I feel that it's extremely important.

This may be the most pivotal election in our nation's history.  There's too much at stake to make a mistake, or to make a vote based on emotions and not issues.  If you don't want to read any further, allow me to beg the following:

Please DON'T vote on hearsay about the candidates.  Do real research.  Ask yourself who can really do the job.  Ask yourself who has the experience and the record to back it up, because we can't afford a gamble right now.  Ask yourself if your vote balances vision and ideals with practicality and experience in a way that will WORK.  Ask yourself if you REALLY researched the issues and the candidates.  THEN vote.

For those of you who want to discuss further, click the cut:

Why I sincerely think Hillary Clinton is our nation's best chance... )

So, that's what I've got so far.  If you have information that contradicts any of this, adds to it, or detracts from it, post a comment.  Just be sure to give me a reliable source... I research everything regarding the candidates, and I confirm things from a minimum of two independent sources before believing them.  Discussion is welcome - but NO FLAMES.  (This applies to me AND to anyone who might comment here.  Of course, if you post here to support Mike Huckabee, I might suggest you submit to psychiatric evaluation.)  If you disagree with me, I'll welcome that, but please discuss with facts, and I'll return the favor.  If you give me real, solid reasons to consider changing my mind, and those reasons can be confirmed, you might even change my mind.  But remember, I don't take things at face value.  I will check your sources.  I ask you to check your sources, too.  I'll re-check my own sources if there's something questionable.  I want EVERYONE to make educated votes this year, including me.

A final note: I'll discuss issues, not race or gender.  I'll vote for the candidate that seems to have the best credentials, record, and ability.  Regarding race, religion, gender, and the like... I couldn't care less about those things.
