Super-quick update.  As I'd said, I wasn't online AT ALL during Dragon*Con.  Anything that was posted since last Tuesday... sorry, I didn't see it.  I was at fucking Dragon*Con, people.  Why the hell would I be online???

In short, I was physically sore and tired, but I had an amazing time.  The con itself was amazing.  And you know how you always hope that when you finally meet the actors behind the characters you grew up loving, you'll discover that those people themselves are quite nice and personable and so on?  Well, I met everyone from Star Trek I wanted to meet at this convention, and they were all great.  Absolutely great.  Some were BEYOND amazing.  I think Avery Brooks is ten kinds of awesome wrapped up into one stylish bundle of poetic presence.  Marina Sirtis is so much MORE awesome than I could have imagined she'd be.   And seriously, everyone was great.

Also met Sean Astin.  I was dressed as Frodo at the time.  Sean called me "Mr. Frodo."  It made my year.  Later, he autographed my lunch.  Seriously.  I'm still giggling about that.

Also, I donated platelets at the D*Con blood drive on Thursday evening, and then donated whole blood this morning.  I feel like I've done my good deed.  :)

I'll have plenty more details about the whole convention, including the panels I attended, the people I met, the events in which I participated, and the cool shit I saw and did... AFTER I get home.  For now, I'm exhausted, and I'm heading to bed.  I'm traveling tomorrow, and I actually planned to take Wednesday off.  I shall probably spend the day recovering, sleeping, and writing fanfic.  Wow, do I have a lot of writing to do.

Glad to hear you had a blast. DragonCon is one I;ve toyed with the idea of going to and then I freak about the sheer size of it!

The thing about Dragon*Con is that you attend the specific things you WANT to attend. I mostly followed Trek Track, with the sole exceptions of going to the Sean Astin panel and the Eureka panel. So, every "track" is like a convention within a convention. Yes, you can go to the enormous cluster-fuck parties, but every track has its own smaller parties, and you get to know the people attending your specific track. If you talk to someone who's already been there, and you get yourself oriented before your first D*Con, it won't overwhelm you as much as you think. It's just amazing. Seriously, don't let the size intimidate you. Just go for it.

Omigod, I know what you mean, they always say don't meet your heroes, but you can't help it, especially at places like Dragon*Con. I'm so thrilled they turned out to be awesome!

Yep, not a single childhood dream of mine was shattered in meeting these people. I liked some of them MORE than others, but I found all of them to be personable and friendly. I'll go into far more detail later, but yeah, everyone was awesome.

Same old, same old. Major con, holiday weekend, let's make a major new major change in the way we do business but don't annoucnement it before hand and don't provide any options for opting out of shiny new gizmo

See, this is why you're the Captain: you can meet Sean Astin while dressed as Frodo and still keep your wits about you. I would've just babbled like an idiot. As demonstrated by the Koenig fiasco.

LOL... I do make an attempt not to seem TOO much like a babbling idiot. I can only hope that's the case. But let's see... in addition to meeting Sean Astin... I spoke to and shook hands with Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, Denise Crosby, Levar Burton, Michelle Forbes, Robert Beltran, Avery Brooks, Rene Auberjonois, Armin Shimerman, and I fist-bumped with Brent Spiner. Also, from Battlestar Gallactica, I met and chatted quite a bit with Aaron Douglas and Richard Hatch. Everyone I met was REALLY awesome.

Oh, and I got a BIG hug and a kiss on the cheek from Marina Sirtis. She's so awesome. I kinda sorta adore her a little bit a lot.

And WHAT Koenig fiasco? I didn't notice you do anything wrong.

WOW, you had one hell of a weekend. XD I was referring to first my question at the Q&A, which made him look at me like I'd grown a second head, and then outside the bar, when all me and the others could do was mention the goddamn ostriches. Walter Koenig thinks I'm brain-damaged, I swear to God.
