F - Favorite actor/actress? Seriously?  You want me to sum it up like that?  I adore Robin Williams.  But there are so many actors I appreciate for so many different things.

H - Hometown? I've been all over, but I'll lay claim to Boston.
I - Instruments you play? Piano, tin whistle, hand-harp, vocals, and I want to learn guitar, but the one I had died.
J - Job title? Hazardous Materials Coordinator.  *grins*
K - Kids? Other than pets?  No way.
L - Living arrangements? Er... living?  I rent a house.  It's comfy.  I share it with my delightful Trophy Wife.  We live there.  It's living.  :D

O - Overnight hospital stays?  Once.  The day I found out I'm REALLY allergic to spiders.  Dude, my hand and arm swelled up like a balloon.
P - Phobia? Shots.  Having no control over a situation.

W - Worst habit? Biting my cuticles, maybe.  Or leaving my shoes everywhere.
X - X-rays you've had?  Including CT scans?  Let's see... Right tibia/fibula, right knee, right hand (multiple times, multiple fractures), right shoulder (suspected separation), CT scans (and MRI's) of my head due to several concussions (I SWEAR I'm not reckless!), spine for back pain due to another incident, and right hand again (because I was goofing off with an x-ray machine at work, and I do shit like that),
Y - Yummy food you make? Sushi.  Or anything I feel like cooking, actually.

How am I? Well, better than Tuesday (when I had a migraine bad enough that I would have gladly submitted to a shot if it would have made the pain stop), but I still feel weird. And tired. And I've got to do some serious writing on my Big Bang fic. And some serious work on my costume for D*Con. *flails*

BUT! My Trek crew is doing Kareoke tomorrow night as a group. It'll be fun. :)

It's probably just my own piss-poor ego that's taking it the wrong way, but I have a feeling that someone who was trying to help doesn't realize that to me, it felt like she was sitting there telling me I'm a bad writer. Combined with the fact that she never says a word about anything I write, good or bad, it wasn't... good.

I love Academy stuff when it's done well. I just wish people would realize that Starfleet Academy is a MILITARY ACADEMY, not a party school. *sigh*

I loved Spock in TOS, but I haven't felt the chemistry between Spock and Kirk or Spock and McCoy in AOS yet. Maybe with the second movie.

I love well written Academy things. Bones and I have written a lot of it, and I hope we contribute to the good things. XD I think the thing I hate most about Academy fics is when people either don't portray Kirk for the genius he is (which is subtle, most of the time) and in fact, make him a complete idiot... and when McCoy isn't shown as a man who's been a doctor for years even before coming to the Academy (the practice with his father, if going with TOS-style information).

Ooohho~ My original OTP in this fandom wasn't Spock/Kirk! It was Spock/Pike! My friend, ironically the one who has been giving me weird comments on my writing, and I wrote some of the first S/P for ST09. ^^

Yeah, there are a lot of aspects of characterization that people miss. They miss the fact that McCoy is a DOCTOR. I know that seems silly when people are mentioning it all the time, but they don't seem to GET it. He's not a sadist with a hypospray - he's a doctor, who diagnoses, researches, and takes care of real patients. That's important to who he is. And yes, Kirk is a genius. He's one who camouflages his genius ways with a light casualness, and a bit of rambunctious fun, but he's still insanely clever. (Also, people forget that McCoy was the one who was credited with pulling some very clever pranks at the Academy!)

Oooh, Spock/Pike? I could see that. Very much so.

I adore the idea of them in their pranks. In this verse (ST09) I think Kirk went a long way towards opening McCoy up, helping him heal over the divorce, losing his kid, practice, father, etc... and McCoy gave Kirk a grounding, someone to get close to after years of clearly not being so.

I have such a place in my heart for any signs of genius!Kirk in fics that I make sure to include them in mine. XD

I also love fics with little captures of McCoy working with patients that aren't Kirk during the Academy years, so very rare as they are.
