Yes, there were circumstances involved.  The overweight person was 14 years old and traveling alone, and had NOT purchased two seats.  However, the "skinny" person had paid full price.  Nobody was asked to voluntarily give up their seat - the skinny passenger was forcibly bumped.

What would you do?  What would Chthulu do?

A lot of kids don't play outside anymore. Some never leave the couch, watching reality TV. Others, their parents won't let them outside because they're afraid the kids will get kidnapped or killed. Sad, but true.

I feel like I'm so "back in my day" about these things and I'm only 25! But...all the kids in my neighborhood, we would ALWAYS be outside, riding bikes between each others' houses or to the pond or the mini golf place. Now I'm always surprised when I see kids playing outside.

Er... like I said, it was an experience that would have given a 20-year-old Jim Kirk a run for his money. And I swear, it wasn't my fault! Or my idea! I'll tell you someday over a beer.

But at any rate, that must mean you live close to where I grew up!

It takes us maybe 45 minutes to an hour to get to Odiorne taking 101-E.

And, yeah, I was falling asleep at the computer. I got a little burned on the backs of my shoulders (I never used to burn - getting older sucks), so I had to lie down instead of sit with the computer and it just wasn't conducive to staying awake. Didn't get any writing done either. :(

Actually, it didn't involve sex. Not at all. But it did involve a large number of people, a large amount of alcohol, a bunch of cops, and me being amongst the eight people out of maybe forty people who actually managed to avoid capture... and then regrouped in the middle of the woods to drink and party until dawn. And I hadn't even intended to go because I knew there'd be trouble. But my little sister (who was BARELY 18) wanted to go, wouldn't listen to me when I told her not to do it, and I couldn't let the kid get herself into trouble without me there. What's funny is she's the one who FREAKED OUT when the cops showed up.

So... the charges...
- Illegal occupancy of a state park after hours.
- Underage alcohol consumption/supplying alcohol to a minor.
- Evading the police.
- Illegal bonfire.

Oh, what a night. *grins*

So you've gotta be not too far from Manchester. My mom still lives in Rochester, and works in Portsmouth. I go back to visit her every once in a while. We MUST have a meetup sometime! And I'll buy you a beer and tell you the whole Odiorne Park story. ;)

Ack! Sunburn! I wish I was there to help - I've got this amazing ointment that works WONDERS on sunburn. You can't find it in stores. One of my pagan friends with an amazing knack for herbal remedies blended it.

I hope you manage to get some writing done today. I need to do the same. :/
