Little Hobbit, Big Horse

Well, I've finally got some of the new pics of Champ uploaded.  These are from a couple of weeks ago.  I decided to ride him bareback that day, and when I came back from my ride, Champ wasn't in the mood to pose for pictures:

It took some trying to convince him to stand for me, but we finally did, and got this beauty:

I couldn't get him to stand on the main part of the driveway, so we've got him with his hind feet in the snow.  Oh well, it's a good picture.  Oh, and Gg, no lectures about the helmet, please.  I know, I know... wear a helmet at all times.  I swear, I wore one for the actual ride.  I just took it off to pose for the pictures. 

Anyhow, we got some more pictures in the barn, where I could give him apple-treats and carrots, and he stopped fussing.  In fact, the second the bridle came off, he was suddenly Mr. Love Bug.  Go figure.

Mijan, you probably dont remember me, but i met you on Gaia once, and it led me to this site and to your wonderful fanfiction, especially Only Your Shadow.

I just wanna tell you that that story is the best H/D i have ever read and because of it, i have managed to lure several of my friends who were very against the ship over to the dark side *muahaha*

Good to know you're converting other shippers! Always a pleasure. Do you lead them just to "Only Your Shadow", or have you also pointed them to Eclispe? I can promise some *really* good stuff in chapter 12. I'm very excited about this chapter.

i lead them to Only Your Shadow first because its a little less heavy, but that leads them to branch off into other stuff, especially yours because well, its still all under the same username, and theyre like me, they find one they like under a person, and they read all of them.

I actually, however, have not gotten around to reading Eclipse, which i must make time for amongst my three huge semester projects right now *ug* but i will definitely read it.

He really does have an unbelievable colour! He's going to shine right to the stars in Summer!

I really like the photo in full tack - that's def one to put on the wall... He looks like he's a bit grumpy in some of the others (and downright evil in the one in the stable with two lunge lines).

He looks a bit thin, though. Thinner than on the last picture you posted - is that just my imagination?

My big move is drawing close, so I probably won't be riding for *long* time. Goodbye Monarch - now I need to find a suitable arrangement in my new city... but I don't even have accommodation yet, so I guess I better keep track of my priorities *lol*.

Champ isn't too fond of crossties. As long as he's getting constant attention, he's not too bad, but he still doesn't like them. And he *was* in a grumpy mood the day I had him posed bareback. It seriously took me some trying to get him to stand still. Hence that first picture where you can see him complaining about it.

Sadly, he lost a little bit of weight over the winter. The weather turned very cold all at once, and you know how much weight horses can lose just by shivering. Just before these pictures were taken, we started switching him to a high-fat, high-protein grain pellet. He's rounded out a lot more, and once the ground thaws, we'll be able to ride him more, and it'll turn into good muscle. Besides, you're used to Irish Draft horses... quarterhorses are inherently thinner.

And yeah, he's a pretty one, good colour. I can't wait until he sheds his winter coat. I love his tail. It's actually two-toned. Red on the top, and darker underneath. Gives it a lot of depth.

Good luck with your move! I'm sure you'll find a horse to ride soon. And if not, you must come visit me so you can ride Champ! :D

There was a lot more snow a few weeks ago. And apparently, we're supposed to get another 6 inches to one foot tonight. *sigh* I love snow, but I'm getting kinda sick of this snow-melt-freeze-snow-melt-freeze-snow-melt bullshit. If you know what I mean.

All you lucky people with horses! I can't keep so much as a guinea pig without my brother breaking out in hives or suchlike. Anyway, Champ is beautiful, really the lovliest colour. Wow, I wish I didn't live so close to the city.
