Okay, so I lied. It wasn't just another 2,000 words. That would have been too easy.
The final count was 59,189 words - almost 60K.
I submitted it with seven minutes to spare.
I'm going to bed now. I feel like I've been flatted by a steamroller. Somebody love me, please?

Date: 2009-09-16 12:29 pm (UTC)But as Michael Stackpole said at GenCon years ago, be sure that your first novel is set in your *own* world. Selling a first novel is hard, but selling a first novel to someone for specifics is much harder.

Date: 2009-09-16 11:03 pm (UTC)That's a hella impressive word total... I haven't written that much in years, seriously - you should be so absolutely, completely proud of yourself. (And I am sooooo looking forward to reading this; you know that, right? Like... end of October/early-November/whenever Big Bangs are posted? That can't come quickly enough.)

Date: 2009-09-16 11:10 pm (UTC)Thanks - I needed that. I'm at the point of collapse right now, and I'm trying to fall asleep even though it's 6:00 PM.
And you know... if you really want to read it early... I could really use feedback to do last-minute editing. Also, I'm working on improving the title, which is proving to be very difficult, so thoughts would be good. What do you think? Interested?

Date: 2009-09-17 02:02 am (UTC)For sure, I'm interested. And I feel you on the title front, totally feel you (I am having one heck of a time with my big-bang-that-isn't-"official" because I forgot to go back and sign up before the deadline like a total spaz); so hopefully I'll be more helpful for you than I have been on my own ;)

Date: 2009-09-17 02:17 am (UTC)Actually, I've finally come up with the real title. I actually got giddy when I thought of it.
The title is "All the King's Horses".
If you really want to read it now, I'll send it to you. Feedback is extremely appreciated. Having solid third-person feedback (aside from beta work) is really helpful when I do my final edits before it gets posted.
And also... I have your phone number, but not your e-mail address. E-mail me at faisons (at) gmail (dot) com and I'll reply with the fic attached. :D
