Okay, so I lied.  It wasn't just another 2,000 words.  That would have been too easy.

The final count was 59,189 words - almost 60K.

I submitted it with seven minutes to spare.

I'm going to bed now.  I feel like I've been flatted by a steamroller.  Somebody love me, please?

Congrats on the impressive word count!

The most I've ever written is less than 7,000 words so I can't imagine...

:hugs:

You do realize that past 40,000 words, it becomes a novel, right?

Date: 2009-09-16 12:19 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mijan.livejournal.com
Yeah. I'm used to that, though. I just hadn't expected it to happen with THIS story.

Sweetie, have you considered writing your own work? Anyone who can churn out 60,000 words in such a short time should consider novel writing.

But as Michael Stackpole said at GenCon years ago, be sure that your first novel is set in your *own* world. Selling a first novel is hard, but selling a first novel to someone for specifics is much harder.

Right now, I'm just glad I got it done enough to submit. I'll be proud when it's beta'd, polished, and posted... IF it does well.

I'm feeling a bit hard on myself at the moment.

be absolutely glad but don't be hard on yourself!! you're an excellent writer. it takes skill to craft a long story. and while it sucks that some people might not want to read a long story in favor of the instant gratification of a shrot story, this is bigbang. we WANT the stories long!

you're just feeding our kink. we appreciate it.

I am in awe of your prolific writing skills. Here, have a 'Liz only wishes she could write like you' award.

I love you. I want to hug you and kiss you and pet you and call you George. I loved it! And yes, once again...it's all good. Yay! Maybe there's hope for me yet, a lowly non prolific writer such as me, struggling to finish my almost 6,000 word fic. Maybe. Anyway...*hugs tight*. And sorry I wasn't online last night. I actually slept for a change.

So it was good? Because by the time I got towards the end, I was running on fumes and set to autopilot and I don't remember much of anything. I have no idea how awful the last few scenes are, and I need to go back and make them coherent.

But I'm glad it was good.

Maybe I'll catch you online later?

I've had "writing on autopilot" I think 3/4th of the fic I'm trying to reign in has been that way. And yes, it's good. I wibbled. Our boys! *sighs*

Okay, so I was off by a bit. I'm only at 4,000 words, but at the rate I'm going it'll STILL be another 2,000 before I get it wrapped up. Progress...And yeah, I should be on later, I'll try to be on this evening some time, and I'm on in the afternoons. TTYL!

*hands you tea and cookies* Always cheers me up :) Awesome job, almost 60k? AMAZING. I've topped at about 20k before I gave up -.-;;

Well, compared to "Eclipse," which hit almost 300,000 words, this is short. But it took me three years to write Eclipse. I did this in just over a month, with the last 22K words being written in four days.

*gives you some love*

That's a hella impressive word total... I haven't written that much in years, seriously - you should be so absolutely, completely proud of yourself. (And I am sooooo looking forward to reading this; you know that, right? Like... end of October/early-November/whenever Big Bangs are posted? That can't come quickly enough.)

*is loved*

Thanks - I needed that. I'm at the point of collapse right now, and I'm trying to fall asleep even though it's 6:00 PM.

And you know... if you really want to read it early... I could really use feedback to do last-minute editing. Also, I'm working on improving the title, which is proving to be very difficult, so thoughts would be good. What do you think? Interested?

From: [identity profile] hitlikehammers.livejournal.com
Is that even a question? If I'm interested?

For sure, I'm interested. And I feel you on the title front, totally feel you (I am having one heck of a time with my big-bang-that-isn't-"official" because I forgot to go back and sign up before the deadline like a total spaz); so hopefully I'll be more helpful for you than I have been on my own ;)

*grins*

Actually, I've finally come up with the real title. I actually got giddy when I thought of it.

The title is "All the King's Horses".

If you really want to read it now, I'll send it to you. Feedback is extremely appreciated. Having solid third-person feedback (aside from beta work) is really helpful when I do my final edits before it gets posted.

And also... I have your phone number, but not your e-mail address. E-mail me at faisons (at) gmail (dot) com and I'll reply with the fic attached. :D
