NASA is holding a contest to name the new node to the International Space Station.
One of the options is "Serenity."

Also... Last night I went to the movies with a friend of mine, and we watched "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." It was really really good. Just had to say. Definitely worth a watch. Very different. I like different. I recommend it.

Date: 2009-02-23 06:41 pm (UTC)I don't like that it didn't say how the top-suggested names stacked up against the pre-suggested names--if that makes any sense. How well is Mudkip doing against Serenity? We just don't know.

Date: 2009-02-23 08:36 pm (UTC)Haha this reminds me of it that there was a similar naming vote for a bridge they built a couple of years ago where they made the mistake of not previously censoring the suggested names and the bridge almost ended up being named after Chuck Norris. And then, when the name won on the internet voting, they made some excuse that Chuck Norris isn't yet dead and there's a law here that you can only name places after people post-mortem, but still, would've been a bit hilarious -- mostly because half of the people living there wouldn't even know how to pronounce the name. :P
