I used to respect McCain. But there are so many reasons why I no longer can. Here are a few:

By now, the nature of politics and politicians shouldn't surprise me, and yet, it still does. McCain always seemed to me a man with whom I had fundamental disagreements, but still a man I could respect who was enough of a moderate to get things done. And now, because he's so desperate to win, he's alienating moderates and saying anything no matter how badly it contradicts previous remarks, even remarks made days or weeks before. I wonder what's gotten him so desperate for the Presidency? Maybe it's his looming mortality, and if he is going to these lengths because he fears his own mortality and the end of his impact on the country, he has become truly pitiable. There were a number of elderly statesmen who served their country with honor and departed its service with grace, and now, he is choosing to tarnish his service to this extent. I can't even summon up anger; the will to see him lose because of his impact on the country yes, but not anger; all I feel is this overwhelming pity for the man he is making himself. I guess I'm in a bit more contemplative mood than I thought today.

I'm not sure what's motivating McCain, but he seems like nothing more than a puppet of the extreme righties lately. Not sure why. *sigh*

Wow! That just... Oh my! The Sarah picture... It makes me wish I could see. I still adore you utterly, though. Can I steel you from your wife? :D I have a question I need to ask you. When are you going to be able to be online so's we can talk? Hugs you!

I'm sorry that you can't see the picture. It's basically Palin's face and part of her hair, merged into the rest of Umbridge's hair, on Umbridge's body, standing outside of Hogwarts. She looks like she's sneering.

And the McCain picture is McCain's head on Doctor Evil's body, with the classic "pinky finger" pose, and the caption "seven hundred billion dollars" overhead.

But you can't steal me from my wife. She'd be unhappy. You can borrow me for a short-term loan, zero-down, zero-interest.

And my being online has been unpredictable. In fact, I should be in bed now. *meep*

*hugs back*

Mijan,

I'll second the thanks for a description of the photos. Umbridge is so incredibly perfect for Palin, especially since she has a disturbing tendancy to avail herself of her powers of office to get rid of people she doesn't like. And Doctor Evil for McCain, classically and absolutely perfect. These have absolutely made my day; thanks.

No problem! Descriptive writing comes naturally for me, and I like doing it. I don't have excuses to do it much anymore. It's a science thing, really. Biologists have to become very good and very precise with descriptive language. *grins*

He also suffers from Elvis Christ Syndrome, which is to say, his fandom is out of control. He asked them to be respectful toward Obama, and they booed him!

I know, I heard about that. For that one, I'll give due credit to McCain, but... if he can't control his fandom, how can he control a nation?

Damn, he really has created a monster with these people. They're as likely to bite the hand that's fed them as turn on Obama; more likely actually, since he unleashed them and now is trying to get them to heel. Wouldn't it be gloriously ironic if his own base crushed his hopes for the Presidency? Terribly unlikely to happen at the poles I know, because of their issues with Obama, but I'm wondering if they're not doing it just a little anyway by making everyone so shocked at the vitrial spewing from their rallies.

I think it would be poetic justice if the monster he created (with Palin's help) destroys any chance he had at the White House.

I don't recognize this man any more. He's a completely different person than he was in 2000. I think he's sold out to win an election. I'm hoping it doesn't work.

I will give him kudos for finally telling all his wacko supporters to stop calling Obama a terrorist.
