Kansas City Fandom Meetup!!!
Oct. 12th, 2008 11:39 amOkay, here's the scoop:
At Terminus, a bunch of people discussed having Midwest Fandom Meetups. The Chicago crowd has had their fun, and now it's time for the Kansas/Missouri crowd to get in the swing of things.
fiona_fawkes and I are feeling fandom-deprived and it's time to do something about it.
Either the weekend of November 8th or November 15th, we're going to host a gathering at our house. There will be food, pirates, prOn, games, drabbling, Muggle-scaring, and other highly inappropriate behavior. And if you want an excuse to wear your house colors, feel free. We're considering the options of a one-evening event in which we go out, a one-evening event in which we stay in, and a whole weekend evening (including sleepover) in which we do both. We're also within walking distance of the plaza and it would be fun to go down there.
We have some sleeping accomodations available. We have two full-sized futons, one extremely comfy couch, and a couple of air mattresses. If you have an air mattress, sleeping pad, cot, or other such thing and want to sleep over, it might be a good idea to bring it along just in case. (A sleepover might be prudent because we're probably going to drink and talk until we're too sleepy to function.)
So, if you live in the Kansas City area, or if you live further away and just want to hang out anyway, go over to
fiona_fawkes 's livejournal and RSVP via the poll, HERE.
Also, I would like to propose an election-watching party for the locals. Who wants to hang out on November 4th after we've all voted?

Date: 2008-10-12 07:22 pm (UTC)I'm sorry I didn't chat with you guys more. I was just kinda bouncing around making sure things were ready. Maybe someday we can do something that ISN'T on a Saturday night so you don't have to worry about running home before Sunday morning.

Date: 2008-10-13 05:33 pm (UTC)Almost everyone on my friends list is also a Harry Potter geek. Some are also fellow pagans, but this LJ has mostly grown up around the Harry Potter fandom for me. Terminus was the HP convention a few months ago in Chicago, and many of us discussed regional meetups.
However, a lot of us HP geeks are also geeks of other fandoms, too. We've got Doctor Who geeks, Supernatural geeks, Pirate geeks, Lord of the Rings geeks... you get the idea.
Did you have a particular fandom in mind, and were you hoping to join us for an evening of pleasant geekery?

Date: 2008-10-19 03:46 pm (UTC)My mom is a Wheel of Time fan, but I've not read them yet. I suspect that I should. :)
We're definitely going to have the get-together on the 15th. It promises to be an excited/excitable bunch of women discussing the merits of putting Harry and Draco together as a couple. If you're willing to brave it, you're welcome to stop by. *grins*
And also, I'd love to meet up with you for coffee and chit-chat sometime. Interested?
