Remember my anger over House Resolution 847?

That's nothing compared to THIS shit:
House Resolution 888.

No, it hasn't been passed.  However, the simple fact that this has even made it to the floor of the House of Representatives, and the grotesque amount of historical error and manipulation contained in this Resolution... it's enough to make me want to scream.

PLEASE... if you're American, call your Representative.  Tell them why they CAN'T, as Representatives who took an oath to the Constitution (and by default, the Bill of Rights), vote in favour of Resolution 888.  PLEASE pass this on to your friends.  This shit isn't going to stop.  Res. 847 was indeed just the beginning, and this is the start of a long, slippery slope.  Each "Resolution" will be one step further until we find ourselves with actual Bills and Laws establishing Christianity as a sort of default state religion.  STOP IT NOW.

Canada... will you welcome your Acadian daughter back home?

That is completely terrifying.

Here is my prayer: that this asinine piece of tripe represents a last ditch effort of the old guard to entrench themselves as completely as possible, because we are just about to kick their collective asses out of Washington. AMEN

Every day, at the start of the House AND Senate sessions, there is "the prayer" -- some random religious leader each day literally leads a prayer on the floors of Congress. I have never understood how this could happen.

Someone should tell them to pray in their churches on Sundays, or in the morning before brushing their teeth, or at night before they go to bed with their adulterous mistresses, but NOT in the House of Representatives.

I guess that, in the guise of "fairness", they had a Hindu lead a the morning prayer not that long ago. It was VERY non-denominational, speaking of peace and the greater divine forces... not any specific godform of any specific religion... and apparently some of the Christians had a major hissy-fit that the guy wasn't praying to Jesus. Our "leaders" are sick, sad people.

I just sent a scathing email to my Congressman. Perhaps someone from the Georgetown University Political Science Department would be so kind as to visit the House and give them all a damn history lesson.

Bet they didn't read that part of the Bible.

Whom the gods would destroy, as the saying goes...

LOL... oh, but don't you see... they're all "saved", so they're going to be "raptured up" into heaven while all the sinners will wail and gnash their teeth.

*rolls eyes*

Hey! All of my favorite Christian history has been left out. You know, all the merciless violence and hatred bits. Though I am excited for the revival of repression and violence towards women and minorities that must surely be planned for the next bill. After all, a bunch of people like that stuff. I must say all my current freedoms were totally ruining the structure of America. And it's what the founding fathers' wanted and I can't possibly object to that.

My biggest OMGWTF was "provided Federal funding for missionary work among Indian tribes." But I think all the Cold War ones were funny to.

Oh my God. I feel so sick. It's a weird feeling being American but living in the UK, sort of a combination of relief that I'm not there and helplessness to do anything about it.

You are welcome back here in the Great White North any time you wish, my dear. Oh, and your lovely wife too. :)
