It's Wizard Rock meets Woodstock! (Now, add Slashers.)

This year, the weekend before Halloween, the Potter fans of the St. Louis, Missouri area have managed to pull together a Wizard Rock event the likes of which has probably never been attempted before.  It will be a Woodstock-style event.  A nice campgrounds with everything from bunks to full cabins are available, and it's not just the nightly concerts!  It's a full weekend of Potter mania, just before Halloween.  It'll be like a convention, except less tightly scheduled, and more fan-run.

We're the St. Louis Area Wizards, and we are pleased to present Wrockstock Spooktacular 2007. The Wrockstock Spooktacular is a music festival, not unlike Woodstock, dedicated to the awesome Wizard Rock Bands out there. All procedes from the WrockStock will go to The Harry Potter Alliance (you can read more about this at the bottom of this page). Here's some general info (forgive us while the web wizards work their magic!):

Location: Trout Lodge, Potosi, MO

This will be a relaxed weekend full of HP fun, wizard rock and halloween-y goodness. Two nights of music, one electric, one acoustic...other activities will include a Triwizard Tournament, Nearly Headless Nick's Deathday party, HP crafts, plus it's a choose-your-own-adventure weekend, where you can create your own schedule of daytime activities based on what the Lodge offers.

Now, the big question:
WHO'S GOING, and if you're going and you're a SLASHER, would you like to join me and a few other people in reserving a "Family Cabin" to become the Slasher's Lodge?  If you can come, and you want to join in a Slashers' Lodge, please:
1. Be at LEAST 18 years old!  Non-negotiable, sorry.  We're slashers.  There will be PORN and ALCOHOL.  We thought about making it 21+, but decided that 18 is legal adulthood, and can be responsible for herself or himself.  However, we can't have underage people around if we're reading, writing, drawing, and discussing pornography.
2. Post a reply here.  I need a headcount first.
3. E-mail me at  faisons@gmail.com, with "Slashers' Lodge" as the subject line.
4. COMMIT to it.

If we fill a cabin, I'll try to get the extra people in contact with each other so that maybe we can have a second Slashers' Lodge nearby.  The cabin won't hold more than 15, but I think we're going to cap it at 12.  I'm NOT the only person looking for other roommates for this cabin, so it's NOT going to be just the first 10 people who reply specifically to me.  emmagrant01 and fiona_fawkes are also looking for people for this cabin, and we'll have to consolidate our lists.

This is going to be so much fun!!!

Well, we'd considered making it 21+ because there will be alcohol, but then we re-considered that because an 18+ legal adult can be responsible for herself/himself regarding alcohol consumption. However, this is a slashers' get-together. We plan to read and write pornography. We can get in MAJOR legal trouble if we have a child (no matter how mature she is) where we're reading, writing, drawing, and discussing pornography.

I'll put that in my main post to clarify why there's an age restriction.

If you and your sister want to come to Wrockstock and possibly carpool with us but stay in a different sleeping arrangement, that would be cool. You can still certainly hang out with us during the day around the campsite and visit the Lodge. If you want to come by yourself and stay in the Slashers' Lodge, that would also work. We just can't have a minor in a place where adult discussions will take place. I hope you understand. I'd still love it if you come with us.

Okay, just checked my schedule and there's nothing on Friday that will keep me here. Just have to make sure the kids can go with their dad that weekend. If so, I'm a definite yes. I have also spoken with melmoe1 who said she would love to go, but can't yet say for sure. She has a free plane ticket because she had to miss Prophecy. I'm not sure if sesheta_66 would be able to make it. I'm sure she would love too, but she's out of town for the weekend. (Away from her computer.)

They appear to have several cabins available, but I'm trying to get one filled with about 12 of the more 'mature' slashers asap. I've emailed the organizers to see if I can go ahead and reserve a cabin without knowing the names of every single occupant, adding the remaining in as they confirm. Because I do NOT want to miss out on going to wait for every last person to confirm. Hopefully we can sort out arrangements this weekend. But even if people don't get in on our cabin, there are lots of other rooms and lofts at the lodge that late comers could still stay in and just come hang at our place.

$75 to register for the event, but you HAVE to stay on site, and that's separate. I'm putting together people to reserve a cabin of older slashers and, with as many people as we're getting, we're looking at getting the price down to another $75/night which includes room and meals, plus access to all other lodge activities.

Er... no. Not at all. She was a presenter. She ran a couple of unnoficial meetups, was on one panel, and ran another panel... and the one that she ran was ever-so-rudely invaded by one of the volunteers, when Steve Vander-Douchebag decided that he wanted the room she was in, even though her panel was still running. So, no, the only official thing she did was to present a panel.

I can't guarantee anything, but I'll put you on our tentative list. Here's how it works:

There are only so many registrations to Wrockstock available. We need to be sure you're going to get a registration before we can actually get you a spot in the cabin. We can't just rent the cabin and invite as many people as will fit. Every single separate person staying in the cabin must have a reservation. The more people we have in the cabin, the less per person, but it's not a specific sum for the cabin in total. It's an amount per person staying there.

We already have enough people to reserve the cabin, so now, we just have to call the campground first thing in the morning to get the cabin. IF we get the cabin, we want approximately 12 people to stay there. It will hold 15, but we don't want to overcrowd. We can probably add more people, as long as it's not at the very last minute. So, if you decide a bit later that you can go, we should be able to add you in, if we're not already full. I'm sure that one or two of the people who are on my list are going to have to back out, so there will probably be space.

If you DO decide to go to Wrockstock, REGISTER FIRST. In fact, register as SOON as you can, before the registrations sell out. Then, e-mail me at faisons@gmail.com with the following information:
- Your LJ name (so I remember that it's you)
- The name you used for registration (real name) so we can officially add you to the cabin reservation.
- Your registration number (because our cabin is set aside for Wrockstock attendees only)
- Your confirmation code, to back up the registration number.

You'll also need to PayPal $75 to fiona_fawkes for the first night in the cabin. At campgrounds, it's standard to have to pay the first night ahead of time. We can't add you to the cabin without that. It's $150 total for the weekend, so you can either send it all at once, or do $75 ahead of time and the other $75 when you get there, or the whole $150 ahead of time. Remember that your lodging includes meals, so it's a fairly good deal.

If that doesn't sound too daunting, and you decide you can make it, then I hope to hear from you soon! We just have to know sooner rather than later. A few days shouldn't be a problem. :)
