Hi loves!
I’ve had a lovely whirlwind weekend. Lots to talk about. It was really a fandom weekend. Those are always the best type. I was in New Hampshire for Friday evening and Saturday with my mother and sister, but then I came back to Boston on Sunday morning for the Boston area HP meetup, from
hp_boston, and the craziness began.
All in all, great weekend. I need an instant-replay. That is, after I get some sleep. But then, sleep is for the dead. That’s why we have coffee. And porn! *giggle*

I’ve had a lovely whirlwind weekend. Lots to talk about. It was really a fandom weekend. Those are always the best type. I was in New Hampshire for Friday evening and Saturday with my mother and sister, but then I came back to Boston on Sunday morning for the Boston area HP meetup, from
I picked up
melandry, and then we hooked up with
kriken and
coffeejunkii at the Macaroni Grill in Burlington, MA. We were joined shortly thereafter by
ficlette and… someone who’s LJ name I can’t remember right now. WAH!!! (Forgive me?) Either way, we had fun at the restaurant, we drew pictures on the tablecloths, had calamari in honour of SquidPorn, and then went to the Barnes and Nobles. Photos from Lumos were shared, stories were told, silliness happened, and we all shared this enormous tiramisu that I had bought as takeout from the restaurant. Seriously, this dessert fed all six of us. I finished off the evening by hanging out with ficlette at my place, looking at LJ communities online, and discussing the finer points of porn and beer.
Then, after an EARLY start to the workday on Monday, I took off just after noon and drove to Long Island NY for the
nyc_hpslashers meetup. Met up with
xingou at her place, then connected with
midnitemaraud_r. The three of us drove into Manhattan to Sambuca, this kick-ass Italian restaurant that has “family style” dining, where you order a specific dish, and it’s expensive, but it serves four or five people. There, we met up with almost 20 other people (did we get an exact count). It was a welcome party for
fiendling, who has just moved to NYC, but it was also a great excuse for a kick-ass party. (To see the people who were there, check out this post on the LJ community.) There were too many of us for one table, so we split into two. Our table got three types of pasta, plus some great balsamic and rosemary chicken, two types of wine, and SQUID! MORE SQUID! YAY! (Love the tentacles. Oh yeah. Tasty tentacles.) There was silliness, art, more silliness, stories, crackfic, even more silliness, and lots and lots of glompage. After a very long and very enjoyable meal, we went walking in Central Park. There was impromptu singing about the internet and porn (Avenue Q, yes), and we encountered a few overgrown hippies in their unending vigil to John Lennon. It was… different. Anyhow, the parting of ways was very sad. Towards the end of the evening, we were just standing on the sidewalk, knowing that half the group had to go left, and half the group had to go right, and nobody wanted to leave. I went back to midnightmarauder’s lovely apartment, and we stayed up for a while doing online-ish stuff. Porn was read. Always good. I crashed on her couch (very comfortable), and woke up around 8:00, despite the insane’o’clock in the morning bedtime. Showered, dressed, and then, she and I watched Hunter and Damon porn over breakfast. Very tasty. Breakfast, that is. And then, I hit the road, and drove straight back to Boston, barely on time for the meeting I had to run, but definitely on-time.
All in all, great weekend. I need an instant-replay. That is, after I get some sleep. But then, sleep is for the dead. That’s why we have coffee. And porn! *giggle*
On a quasi-non-fandom note, I’m moving the essentials into my new apartment tomorrow afternoon, but the “big” move-in date with my stuff that’s in storage still has to be decided. I’m thinking the weekend after this one, or possibly even the weekend after that. This weekend isn’t good because it’ll just be a bit too crazy with everything else going on. ALL the universities in the Boston area are starting up, and trying to move into the city this weekend will be a nightmare. Bad idea. Plus, some of my favourite people can’t come for the party.
The weekend after that (weekend of the 9th), I have a party I really want to go to, with some of the people I’ve been reconnecting with lately, after taking back control of my life. I haven’t seen them in a long time except at that masquerade ball, and I’m really keen on the party. It’s Saturday night, so that kills both Saturday and Sunday.
So, I’m thinking of having a combination moving-in/housewarming party on the weekend of the 16th. By then, I’m hoping to have almost everything moved in. In fact, I’ll see if my friend with the truck who’s helping me with the bed has some more free time, and we’ll try for the living room furniture too. So, in truth, it would be more of a housewarming party. Snacks, drinks, and schmoozing. I’d like to be a bit of a small fandom meetup for anyone who wants to come, both from the Boston area and the NYC area. With the Boston area universities starting up, that means the HP people who weren’t able to come to the meetup this past Sunday will be around again, so maybe some of them can come. Plus, what better way to christen a new apartment than with my favourite crazies in the world, right?
Please let me know if Saturday, September 16th sounds like a good time for a meetup. Post a comment here, and then e-mail me for times, directions, and addresses.

HI.

Date: 2006-08-30 07:43 am (UTC)Anyway I wanted to be absolutely sure I was talking about the right fic before I told you this in person, but Eclipse is quite possibly the most well-written H/D fic I have ever had the pleasure of reading.
The way you describe what's going on in their heads is so canon and so believeable. However, I've only read it once because I found the ending to be so painful. [In a very beautiful way] It is one of the only fics that has ever made me cry...and I mean I was weeping!
I'm rereading it now and finding it to be just as amazing as the first time.
And I promise I'll read Baseball Slash as soon as I'm finished!
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I loved your fic [so much, in fact, that I failed to even notice the lack of porn :P] and it was a pleasure meeting you. :D

Date: 2006-08-30 11:00 am (UTC)Oh, and as for the ending of Eclipse... I'm strongly considering chopping off the entire Epilogue, and going directly from the last chapter into a sequel, which is what I SHOULD have done in the first place. I'm still kicking myself for even posting an epilogue. It didn't need it.
As for the lack of porn... go back through my LJ and you'll find two fics: "Switch" and "Liaison". Both NC-17. *wink*

Date: 2006-08-30 12:01 pm (UTC)I still found the ending to be sad, but also very hopeful and beautiful. I mean, I trust that things will work out and there will be a happy ending. I s'pose I was a bit depressed the first time I read it.
I like the epilogue. It makes sense to me that things would progress that way. *coughs* However... there could still be a sequel you know. *looks hopeful*
I'm off to bed now, but I will definately be checking out Baseball Slash, Switch, and Liason as soon as I get a chance :D

Date: 2006-08-30 12:44 pm (UTC)And... yeah, the epilogue made sense, but it wasn't my original plan. I got a bit carried away, and didn't stick to my guns, and now, I'm unhappy with myself for doing that. The original plan did NOT have Draco faking his own death. The problem is that it would have demanded a sequel IMMEDIATELY, and I didn't have time to write it just then. But now... I think I want to go back to my original plan. I just hope people don't get too angry at me.

Date: 2006-08-30 01:58 pm (UTC)It's invite-only, so I'd have to ask if I can bring a guest, and the Host will have to approve ahead of time. But then I thought about it, and seeing as I haven't been to one of his parties for a long time now, it might be presumptuous of me to bring a guest who is completely new to the scene around here. *ponders* Want me to ask? The worst he can say is "I'd prefer not this time. Maybe next."

Date: 2006-08-30 09:41 pm (UTC)Definately biting. Um, blood play has always interested me and being tied up. I don't really know other than that. I haven't had the chance to explore really except through reading. Thats probably what I am most looking forward to. Findind out what my kinks are.
