I'm stuck in New Hampshire. Been here all day. It's a work day. I'm missing work. Why am I missing work? Because I needed to get my car fixed. It's been guzzling gas like mad - at least a 30% drop in fuel economy. Engine feels like it's straining for power. NEVER used to do that. So, I skip a day of work to bring it to the shop that I trust, and what happens? NOTHING! They say they can't find anything wrong with it because "The computer says it's okay." FUCK THE COMPUTER! Go under the hood yourself and LOOK.
*headdesk*
If nothing else, they're replacing the rusted-out bracket that holds the catalytic converter in place. I don't particularly fancy having that thing fall off my car when I hit one of Boston's many pot holes.
Oh, and I'd wanted to have this done by noon. It's 4:20, and the car is STILL in the shop. So, I'm still in New Hampshire, twiddling my thumbs. Well, not exactly twiddling my thumbs. My neighbour came with me to the car place so that I wouldn't have to just sit there, and to thank her, I treated her to a spa facial, and got one for myself. Yes, it's a wonderful indulgence. For anyone who's never had a facial, I highly recommend it. They're fantastic. :D
And so now, I'm back home. I spent the afternoon making avatars to keep from going mad. Go look at my user pics under my LJ profile! Shiny new avatars!!! Pretty icons! Go lookie! I'll make more soon, I hope.
So... now I'm just waiting for my car to be ready. I'd write some fic, except for some reason, I just haven't been able to focus on writing lately. Brain-fuzz. Haven't even had the motivation to carve more wands. Tried to find a proper piece of wood for a new project yesterday, and came up empty handed. But, I did have one nice pick-me-up. Look at the bright, shiny review! I need more bright, shiny reviews. Yesh.
Anyhow, time to go off and stare at the phone until it rings. Blah. Then drive back to Massachusetts. I'll be pulling 10-hour days all week to make up for missing today. *headdesk* Just what I need, right?
Can I get some love, here?

Date: 2006-04-24 08:50 pm (UTC)Sorry about the bad car news. You made a wise decision not to drive to NYC last weekend even though you were greatly missed. Don't you just love it when "the computer" says nothing is wrong? Because you know the computer never lies or has brain farts of its own! Besides, you only drive the car, why would you know when something was wrong.
Yea for facials, they are wonderful. I am treating myself next week to a facial and massage. Can't wait.
I really like the "I keel you" icon!
Sorry I never called on Sat. Got back from work, felt like death warmed over and went to bed. Asleep by 9pm, but kept waking up due to cats. When your snake is a bit bigger I'll have a meal for it!
Hope your week isn't too long. And hope the muses come back soon.
*Hugs*

Date: 2006-04-24 08:55 pm (UTC)Don't worry about not calling back. I've been plenty distracted myself, believe me. Hospital visit, car trouble, general exhaustion, finding a new tenant... life is nuts. Call me anytime though! *huggles muchly*

Drive safely.
We're off to see 'Rent' tonight at our university theatre. It's the 10th anniversary of the show today (April 25) so it's special. But I'll be thinking of you!
*more hugs & cuddles*
PS, great review - here's one of my new wonderful reviews: http://archive.skyehawke.com/review.php?set=read&no=11966

Date: 2006-04-24 09:14 pm (UTC)It's going to be weird watching it here. There is not one single black person in the cast, and the guy who plays Angel is a very cute goth boi. As I said, it's going to be weird!
*smoochies*
Take care on the roads! Have fun with your avatars

Don't let the name fool you, they do everything, not just mufflers and brakes.

Date: 2006-04-25 12:34 am (UTC)I swear technology is the bane of human existance... damn us for being lazy bastards. lol. Then again, I'd die without my computer... ANYways, sorry about the car business. My volvo just went to the shop to get the door fixed and as I got in the car to drive it home the door made the same ominous cracking noise and I looked at the guy and he was all "yea, we fixed it, its just got to warm up a bit." I was in a hurry so I just left. The next day I go to open the door... yup. stuck. lol. Still haven't gotten it fixed, I have to climb over the passenger seat. I've called 4 times and they still don't have time to fit me in. *grunts* So...I have MUCH sympathy for you.
The new icons are sooo pretty! *pets them*
You know, I somehow managed to miss the fact that you live in Mass. I thought it was someone else on my flist all this time, lol. Yes, yes, I am an idiot. nothing new. So, let me just wave to you from my apt in Boston. *waves madly*
Right... hopefully my cracktastic self cheered you a bit? no? well at least it might make you feel even more intelligent! =D

Date: 2006-04-25 02:08 am (UTC)But actually, in reality, this car place is really good. I like the people, and they're really honest. I honestly believe they DON'T know what's wrong with it... but that doesn't stop me from being frustrated.
Anyhow, with you being in Boston, we must obviously get together for coffee! I'm a social little butthead, really. Interested?

Date: 2006-04-25 11:23 am (UTC)I'd love to get together for coffee sometime! I live right on the border of Cambridge and Somerville (5 minutes from Porter Sq.). The problem is, I'm headed back to Seattle for the summer and right now things are a little crazy with finals and recitals so I don't think I'll have any breaks before I fly out on May 10th. But I really would love to get together when I'm back in the fall! I love hanging out with my crazy HP friends...they always end up being the most unusual and loveable people.
Anyways, good luck with your car!

And yes, I've noticed that HP people tend to be the coolest people I meet. I mean, there's just something about us... dunno what it is, but I like it!
