The Stage!

Okay, so I said that we had awesome seats?  Here's where we were:

See that yellow dot?  That's where I was sitting.  The red dots were duhmom , desdomonda , and the youngest sibling of the family.  (My sister was the lone red-dot towards the back of the orchestra seating area... not as good of a view, but she had sat second-row before, and didn't mind sitting further back.)  From where I was sitting, you could see individual beard-stubble hairs on Roger's chin.  Oh, and I had the BEST view of Angel's underwear under the little Santa-Clause-ette skirt... even when (s)he wasn't technically showing it to the audience... although that happened plenty of times too.  I'm telling you... that cast had the best set of arses in the universe... all on one stage.  And I was within feet of it.  During "Seasons of Love", they were standing close enough that if I had stood up, I could have reached out and touched the nearest one without really leaning forward.  Oh!  And during curtain-calls, the man who sang the first "Christmas bells are ringing" (I think it was Shaun Earl) made eye-contact with me, winked, and gave me a huge smile.  I was thrilled.  In fact, the whole thing was thrilling.  In case you missed my entire tale of my NYC adventure, it's here:

argh! am soo jealous! i love angel love angel love angel. that sounds really cool. you sound like you had the best time! :D really can't wait for hte movie... although it wont be anywhere as near as good as the real thing. there are so many good shows in ny. if i could go, id see avenue q, wicked, rent and you're a good man charlie brown (is that still playing?). i heard about the behind the emerald curtain display and that sounds really great too. and they were great seats! :D

umm... how far is australia from ny? :P but ny is up there in liveable cities (mainly for the musicals. that or london). but i'm so there once i save up enough money (which will probably be a while...)it's a pity australians are so disinterested in the arts... melbourne is probably the most open city in australia and even then, the lion king was not going to be done due to lack of an adequate stage

lol. they were afraid that none of the stages would be big enough. but eventually they somehow managed :D id go if i weren't so broke. this lack of an adequate stage however, means that big productions such as wicked won't be able to play. austrlia's whole entertainment is not going so well because it isn't supported by the people (who are generally mroe interested in sport) and the government. :( the film industry is going pretty bad too...

lol. states is right up there. if you ever make it to oz, crash at my place!

Aww, that's kinda sad. I mean, sports are awesome, and I do watch professional sports around here, but seriously, to ignore the performing arts? *is sad*

yeah in australia's history theres only really been ONE PM who was itnerested in the arts (Gough Whitlam) and he was criticised for that. they were thinking of lowering the amount of texts to study in victorian schools and maybe even taking shakespeare out of the curriculam

You're lucky you don't live closer to NYC as Rent is very addictive and you'd find yourself waiting in the rain/sleet/snow for those $20 tickets. =D

And I would have no reason to freak out... it was amusing! I'd never really been fangirled before. There were a couple more people who did that throughout the course of the weekend, but you were the first one! *huggles* Are you still on MSN, btw? We ought to chat sometime!

Oh, and yes, I can see how Rent would be very addictive. I've been singing the soundtrack ever since I got home. And I don't mind bad weather. That just means I'd have a better chance of getting the tickets!!!
