The good, the bad, the fucking hilarious.
Mar. 15th, 2005 04:31 pmSo, let's start with the good. I just sold one of my paintings yesterday for $600. It was to a friend, so I cut her a deal on it, both because she's an awesome person (I met her with the Boston Line Party group for PoA, and we're doing stuff for The Witching Hour together), and because at least I'll still have visitation rights with my painting. (My HP sketches may be fun little doodles, but my oil paintings are pieces of my soul.) Besides, the painting really did suit her on many levels, so I'm glad she has it.
Now, the bad news. My pet rat, Snitch, died a couple of days ago. She was a good pet, but she was quite old, and it was time. I was amazed at how long she hung on. She didn't seem to be in any pain... just sorta faded away. I buried her on the shorefront on Cape Anne, Massachusetts. Beautiful location. She deserved nothing less.
And finally, the hilarious. I was on my way back from work today, and I saw a cop had pulled over some guy in a truck, in a rather busy downtown section. People were going around them, giving them a proper berth for safety, and as I approached, the cop started walking back to his cruiser. I started to swerve out to give them space, and the stupid fucker who got stopped in the first place almost sideswiped me as he pulled out into the road without signalling, without even looking. So, I blared my horn. As I watched in the rear-view mirror from a nearby stoplight, the cop flipped on his bluelights and sirens again, and pulled the dumb bastard over again. Stupid rednecks. But, they're good for entertainment value, I must admit.

Date: 2005-03-15 10:10 pm (UTC)And don't worry for Snitch. She's in a happy place, scampering around and devouring all the peanuts she could want.

It's the one nearest the corner, to the immediate left of the lamppost, and to the right of the bed.

Date: 2005-03-16 04:01 am (UTC)In another burst of highway triumph... I was driving on the interstate in the fast lane, going a good 10-15 mph faster than the speed limit (just like everyone else), when this white van pulls up behind me, flashes its lights and honks its horn. The driver is clearly not government-related, just a jerk. I let the asshole pass me and wish him all the bad karma he deserves as I see him repeat the process with the vehicle ahead of me. Then, about five minutes later, I'm driving along and off to the side of the road, I see a police car has pulled over... a white van! I did a cheer and had a grin that lasted me the rest of my 4 hour drive.
Oh... and I -did- read the newest chappie of Eclipse... I'm just finishing up with finals for my Master's degree and I've got a list of things I need to do after that, but I promise a nice review will follow in less than a month. I'll see if I can poke in at the chat, but I might be still writing papers. 60+ pages.
And congrats on selling the painting! Looks nice!

Date: 2005-03-16 12:11 pm (UTC)Don't worry about the review! Seriously, I need to edit something in chapter 12 anyway. Rather embarrassing, actually. *wibble*
