On a more positive note...

I need the vibe here to bounce back. So... I propose:
LOVE YOUR GEEK!
Two options:
1. Give us a comment here about one of your fellow geeks, and tell us all what makes your fellow geek so awesome. Gush about his or her awesome geekery, and why you love him/her/zir so much.
2. Tell us what you love about your particular brand of geekery - fanfiction, fanart, gaming, anime, science (!), reading... share your geek love with us.
I'll start:
1. I adore
gone_ashore , because nobody writes h/c and whump like she does. Love
vixys because she's so sweet and talented with words. Love
lizardspots because she's ten kinds of awesome wrapped into a tiny little package of squee, and will soon be Doctor Leezard! And I love
ewinfic because, seriously, DUDE, I don't even really LIKE RPS, but I can't resist hers, and it had me almost rolling off my chair laughing last night.
2. I love fanfiction. I love the creativity. I love the way thousands of people all watch the same movies and shows or read the same books, and everyone comes up with something brilliant and different. I've been taken on amazing journeys through the galaxy and into the depths of the human heart in some of these fanfictions. It's awesome.
So, time to share your geek love! PUNCH IT!

Date: 2010-07-13 08:56 pm (UTC)2)I love fanfiction. It is my drug of choice. Whenever my life is falling apart, which seems daily lately, I find a fic and lose myself for awhile. Fanfiction is what got me through a bad depression when I split with my ex and it is there for me when I got laid off my job. It is my drug of choice.

Date: 2010-07-13 09:50 pm (UTC)fangirlingdiscussing Enterprise, reboot Trek, and lots of other geekery.2. I love fanfiction. I love getting into the characters (and the porn, okay..) and seeing what I can do with them, and the sense of accomplishment when I finish a fic that I'm proud of.

One? Just ONE???
I CAN'T PICK JUST ONE!! It's like... impossible! Although
As are so many people on my flist. SO MANY! *lurv*
I love writers. I mean, yeah, sure, there are writing communities that are wanky and awful, but by and large, the writers I have engaged with personally either via fandom or in writing clubs have been so supportive and awesome to each other. Then there's just the words... wisdom and insight and beauty and catharsis and gusty realism... God, I'd be lost without a constant flood of words to float around on, and I have so many insanely talented people who keep me well supplied with them.

Date: 2010-07-13 11:23 pm (UTC)And notice, I didn't pick just one! But I could have gone on, and on, and on...
Dude, your "flood of words" is always breathtaking (often because I'm laughing so hard I choke), and I hope you continue to take that tide at the flood, such that it may continue to lead to much fanfic, if not fortune. ;)
Also... I love that icon of yours. It calls up that mental replay of that whole interview. Awesome.

Date: 2010-07-14 04:31 am (UTC)2. Darn, again, one kind of geekery? 'tis impossible! Your list up there? Yeah, that covers a lot of it. Fanfiction is definitely high up there, along with history, anthropology, building computers (which I haven't been able to do for awhile, sigh,) sewing, crafting of various types, antique cars~
I just wish I was able to focus more easily, then I could actually finish my projects in decent periods of time. >:|

Date: 2010-07-16 07:57 pm (UTC)To be honest, my favorite kind of geekery is geeky music. The songs either make me giggle like a mofo or cry with my mom. and it covers so many genres, I can always find something.
