mijan: (Kirk is Awesome)
[personal profile] mijan
I need the vibe here to bounce back.  So... I propose:

LOVE YOUR GEEK!

Two options:

1. Give us a comment here about one of your fellow geeks, and tell us all what makes your fellow geek so awesome.  Gush about his or her awesome geekery, and why you love him/her/zir so much.

2. Tell us what you love about your particular brand of geekery - fanfiction, fanart, gaming, anime, science (!), reading... share your geek love with us.

I'll start:

1. I adore [livejournal.com profile] gone_ashore , because nobody writes h/c and whump like she does.  Love [livejournal.com profile] vixys because she's so sweet and talented with words.  Love [livejournal.com profile] lizardspots because she's ten kinds of awesome wrapped into a tiny little package of squee, and will soon be Doctor Leezard!  And I love [livejournal.com profile] ewinfic because, seriously, DUDE, I don't even really LIKE RPS, but I can't resist hers, and it had me almost rolling off my chair laughing last night.

2. I love fanfiction.  I love the creativity.  I love the way thousands of people all watch the same movies and shows or read the same books, and everyone comes up with something brilliant and different.  I've been taken on amazing journeys through the galaxy and into the depths of the human heart in some of these fanfictions.  It's awesome.

So, time to share your geek love!  PUNCH IT!

[livejournal.com profile] dctr_mccoy, who under her writing name and on her RP one, is an amazing author who got me to like Jim/Bones so deeply, who is an amazing Bones to RP off of, and is a great friend who probably doesn't even realize how much she makes me grin.

[livejournal.com profile] dancing_mercury who writes one of the best Spock voices' ever.

And you - because I found you in a group of 55,000 D*C goes looking mighty fine as Doctor McCoy and recognized you from like, two sentences of a story you told me anonymously. XD

"...and recognized you from like, two sentences of a story you told me anonymously."

I almost don't remember how that conversation STARTED. What did I actually say to you? Which story?

Also, AWESOME love for your fellow geeks! :D

1) I love my fiance and my best friend who do not have LJ's and yet are two of the biggest geeks I know. My BF and I can have three conversations going on at once, about different fandoms/rl and some how a Hitchhikers Guide reference will inevitably rear its head. The fiance and I are kindred spirits. His love of Buffy is only rivaled by my love of Torchwood. He loves me so much he watched Torchwood and read the HP and is almost as big a geek as I am in those fandoms.

2)I love fanfiction. It is my drug of choice. Whenever my life is falling apart, which seems daily lately, I find a fic and lose myself for awhile. Fanfiction is what got me through a bad depression when I split with my ex and it is there for me when I got laid off my job. It is my drug of choice.

1. I love [livejournal.com profile] mijan for being so awesome and GQMF and being such an awesome writer. And for being just so kickass! :D &hearts. I love [livejournal.com profile] sphynxle, even if I do have to look up how spell her username every time, because she's an Enterprise geek like me, and we totally spent a fair amount of time fangirling discussing Enterprise, reboot Trek, and lots of other geekery.

2. I love fanfiction. I love getting into the characters (and the porn, okay..) and seeing what I can do with them, and the sense of accomplishment when I finish a fic that I'm proud of.

Yes, I'm a writer despite my obvious fail at the end of my comment.. ending with a preposition. Woot! :D &hearts !

*^-^*

One? Just ONE???

I CAN'T PICK JUST ONE!! It's like... impossible! Although [livejournal.com profile] jaune_chat, and [livejournal.com profile] withthepilot and [livejournal.com profile] the_deep_magic and [livejournal.com profile] 1297 and [livejournal.com profile] elise_the_great and [livejournal.com profile] beedlebarg and I CAN'T PICK JUST ONE IT WOULD BE WROOOONG. They're all awesome!

As are so many people on my flist. SO MANY! *lurv*

I love writers. I mean, yeah, sure, there are writing communities that are wanky and awful, but by and large, the writers I have engaged with personally either via fandom or in writing clubs have been so supportive and awesome to each other. Then there's just the words... wisdom and insight and beauty and catharsis and gusty realism... God, I'd be lost without a constant flood of words to float around on, and I have so many insanely talented people who keep me well supplied with them.

From: [identity profile] mijan.livejournal.com
*grins* Yep, bb! ♥

And notice, I didn't pick just one! But I could have gone on, and on, and on...

Dude, your "flood of words" is always breathtaking (often because I'm laughing so hard I choke), and I hope you continue to take that tide at the flood, such that it may continue to lead to much fanfic, if not fortune. ;)

Also... I love that icon of yours. It calls up that mental replay of that whole interview. Awesome.

1. I love a LOT of people, both in the ST fandom and beyond, for their talent and their wonderful personalities and prospectives. I couldn't just give props to a few, because there are so many. :D I do want to give a shout out to my friends [livejournal.com profile] wubear and [livejournal.com profile] miffykeika, who have been my partners in crime since 7th grade and 4th grade, respectively, and we have terrified regular joes and con-goers together for well over a decade. :D May we all geek forever, even if our fandoms have diverged a bit in the last few years. ;)

2. Darn, again, one kind of geekery? 'tis impossible! Your list up there? Yeah, that covers a lot of it. Fanfiction is definitely high up there, along with history, anthropology, building computers (which I haven't been able to do for awhile, sigh,) sewing, crafting of various types, antique cars~

I just wish I was able to focus more easily, then I could actually finish my projects in decent periods of time. >:|

My parents are my fellow geeks. They're awesome because at least once a day we have some sort of reference in our speech, from my mom and I snarking over movies to my dad and I talking about Heinlein novels. They were the ones to take my to conventions and start me reading the stuff I do now.

To be honest, my favorite kind of geekery is geeky music. The songs either make me giggle like a mofo or cry with my mom. and it covers so many genres, I can always find something.
