As you can probably guess, I'm actually not vanilla. The reason the psychology works with the characterization and the kink this way is because I actually do understand it. And it's true - it's not WHAT the kink is that makes kink hot, but how a person REACTS to it. It's about the emotions and trust involved, and how it impacts the characters. And really, that's how kink works in RL, too.
