Well, I got this from valentina_marie's LJ.  She "passed the baton" to me, so I guess I'm supposed to answer. 
Don't mind me.  Just very sleepy.  Long day.

1. Total number of films I own on DVD/video:
Maybe 10 or so.  More of them actually belong to my mother and sister.  Heh... perhaps as many as 15, being generous.

2. The last film I bought:
Second-hand copy of the Stargate movie.

3.  (There doesn't seem to be a #3.  *shrugs*)

4. Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me:
The original Star Wars trilogy, which counts as one movie in this case.
"What Dreams May Come"
"Good Will Hunting"
"The Last Samurai"
"G.I. Jane"  (And no, I'm not kidding.)

5. Which five people am I passing the baton onto? And why?

well it is all a question of priorities really. theatre and film is what i do, so, i see a lot. you, on the other hand, have horses and work out and stuff, which i don't. [*grin*]

sorry, it is the shaman side of me. i always react to phrases like. i need and i can't and never have because i know, as sure as anything, that we chose what we do and have. and that our words create a reality.

oh bugger, i'm babbling philosophy and spirituality on a movie meme, someone whack me.

I understand what you're saying. My choice that limits my current options was made already, when I joined the Army. So right now, I really don't have much spare time to see movies, because I do have other priorities.

And whether or not you want to be all philosophical about it, people indicate a large set of variables when they use words like "can't". They indicate the effects of choices they've already made, their own values and ethics, and their chosen role in society. Most people just don't bother to spell it all out, because frankly, it would be bloody annoying, and most people can read into the rest of the message easily enough. For example, a dieter will say "I can't have that cookie." Well, certainly nothing is preventing her from eating the cookie, but she can't eat it, based on the decision she made. "How 'bout them apples?" *grins*

And really, based on my responsibilites and income, and DON'T HAVE enough time to go to movies and shows most of the time. Which is why I'm leaving tomorrow to go see "Wicked" on Broadway. I need some culture, right?
Oh, and to make sure I don't get too "cultural", I'm going to a Mets game the next day.
