It's excellent British-flavored speculative fiction, and it's on my Top Five Books Ever list.

It's like this:

So you've invented time travel, right? Only you discover that if you're likely to cause an anachronism due to dress or training, or if you're trying to steal things from the past, the mechanisms that allow time travel just won't work.

It's useless for monetary gain, you can't go back and kill Hitler, and you can't even use it for tourism. So the historians use it, and it becomes the domain of scholars and universities and committees, and in the middle of all this fuddying-around, a grad student decides she wants to go back in time to the dangerous, unassayed pre-Plague England.

I cannot stress how excellent this book is. It shares the dubious distinction with Ender's Game and Sabriel that I can never keep a copy of it for long, because I am compelled to loan it out and then people won't give it back because they 'need to loan it to their friends'.

Anyway. I saw a squirrel today and thought of this post and was paranoid. THANKS

Oh lord. The one and only time in my life I ever watched Foamy, I was 15 or 16 and out of my mind with the flu. O_O

OMGGGG! I haven't watched Foamy in years. I remember my then partner and I first watched the eye stigmata one like a week after I had eye surgery and I bled waaaay more than I was supposed to. It made it all the more hilarious.
