Has anyone else been having REALLY vivid, strange, inexplicable, or just generally fucked-up dreams lately?  I have, and a few of my friends have said the same thing.  I'm wondering if it's coincidence, or a local phenomenon, or something that's affecting people on a broader scale.  (Things like that fascinate me.)  So, if you've been having unusual or vivid dreams lately, let me know?  You don't have to provide details unless you want to... which would actually be kinda cool.  But mostly, I just want to know if you've been having strange dreams over the past week or so.

And on another note... SQUEE!  I've got a shiny new refrigerator!  It's all stainless steel and titanium, freezer on the bottom, with lots of details and places to put stuff.  And best of all... it doesn't sound like the engine of an ancient Mack truck every time the compressor starts!  (My old fridge was about to die.)

So... weird dreams?  Throw 'em at me!

I certain have. I dont remember the details of most of them, but they've all either been kind of creepy, or rushed, like I'm desperately trying to get somewhere within a certain time or something awful will happen. Been having them for the past couple of days. Strange. o_0

With only 4 hours sleep a day now I barely get to dream, although lately I've been dreaming about Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki.

Nothing strange about that pair, and they are fucking hot! Makes me wish I had more than 4 hours in a day to sleep~

Yeah. I'll usually vaguely remember a dream every week or two. But for four nights running, I could wake up and give so many details about location, people involved and what happened. No more nightmares after that one, thank goodness. Very odd indeed.

Man, this is creepy because the two posts sandwiching this post on my f'list are about other people having especially vivid dreams. Mine aren't that vivid, and tend to be the same 5 or 6 dreams recycled anyway.

YES. I usually have dreams that I remember every now and then but over the last couple of months I haven't been having that many dreams. That was until about last week or so. I have been having vivid and really crazy dreams that are the most vivid dreams I have had in a long time.

I've had dreams from what I guess were future Prophecy parties? I don't know but a lot of fandomy people were there and I also had one where I think Draco was a fern tree and was incredibly fond of pineapple cereal. ???

I go in cycles. I'll go for weeks and months on end without remembering anything, and then I'll go on a tear where I'll have a week or two's worth of the most vivid and bizarre dreams. It's weird!

Too weird.

I've been having such unusual dreams in the last week, that yesterday I started a dream journal and began writing them all down.

The theme of most of my "normal" dreams is constantly looking for something and never finding it. Fun, huh? I'm so sick of them.

But the new ones are much more lively and interesting.

I actually don't want to explain them because they make no sense, and written down, they're kind of well, dull. But my emotions while I was having them were really intense.

Yes - I can't remember all of them - but one I can recall was being trapped in a mirror by a sorceror, and having two other friends trapped, too, one in a plate and another in a teapot. WE got out when the guy in the teapot figured out that he could rise up with the steam and kiss the girl in the plate (romantic!) and break the spell!

I don't usually have these kind of dreams. Note that I wasn't the one getting kissed. *sigh*

Yay for new fridges! zPretty soon my whole flist will be re-fridged!

I call "coincidence" but I had one last night: I dreamed that my teeth were crumbling and falling out. It started with just the front two. I got some milk and swished it in my mouth to try to preserve the teeth and the front ones actually got a little better but then more of them started crumbling and falling out in pieces. I thought about how I'd have to get a full set of dentures and how I had to get to a dentist but I couldn't speak properly and couldn't drive - I was just standing over the sink spitting out blood and tooth pieces.

It seemed very, very real and I was so relieved when I woke up and realized it wasn't.

That was the first ultra-real one I've had in a while - I often have vivid, detailed dreams but I'm not usually surprised that it was just a dream.

You know.. funny you should ask that. I've been having weird dreams for like that past two weeks. In two of them I'm having this weird conversation on the phone and I swear when I wake up I actually check my cell to make sure I was really dreaming. And then the others... well... they're odd too. About one of my best friends that passed away last year. It's just... they're weird. Lol.

How funny that you would ask that *today*... because I dreamed last night that I was visiting a very old friend in the US, who happened to have a new cat, a cream/gold Persian with a very affectionate personality, and when I asked her if she'd got it after one of her older cats died, she told me no, she'd had it for quite a few years, but couln't tell me about it since it had by accident started the Iraq war.

I paused in the dream with some weird association to the last battle between Artus and Mordred, then woke up, and laughed my head off. That cat that started the Iraq war... that was one of the very weirdest yet...

Very very strange. I've been having especially vivid and strange dreams these last couple of weeks. Last nights involved my best friend David standing in front of this huge window-wall thing, and getting shot with something through it that shattered the whole window. I had to cut him open to save him and the blood was everywhere on the glass and stuff. It was horrible. *shudder* It seems strange that so many people have been having vivid dreams lately.

Hypnogogic Hallucinations is the technical term, and they're a symptom of the syndrome commonly called narcolepsy. Your conscious mind and your autonomous nervous system are supposed to change shifts in an orderly fashion so that, among other things, you don't remember the file-organization work your brain does during sleep mode that the conscious mind calls dreaming.

Sometimes Dream Shift has just a few more things to clear up, or Wake Shift shows up a bit early, and the changing of the guard doesn't go smoothly. So you remember dreams that are so vivid they seem like memories, people who call you in the morning can't understand why you don't remember the conversation, and don't believe you when you claim to have been half-asleep. Or you hear the doorbell (or think you do) waking you (or so you think); you get halfway to the door and all of a sudden you're on the floor, fully conscious but unable to move a muscle.

I take medications to regulate my sleep cycles, but I have to say I've been having problems lately. Maybe it's solar flares or sunspots or something if everybody's having them!

I'm in New York. Where else are these things happening? Perhaps some sinister force like the Government is conducting experiments like releasing BZ gas into selected populations?

Not this week, but LAST week I had several very vivid, complex and unusual dreams. Occasionally two on the same night. And so did my father.

So it's not just a one-off, and my house? Weird... bet there's people out there who'd attribute it to the influence of the comet or some such.

I always have frequent, horrible dreams, so... yes, but nothing new there, heh. I dream every night, and it's usually at least weird, if not horrible (like Monday I woke up having dreamt I was digging through sand on a beach, and found a dead body, and another dream that night I dreamt that some celebrity had died in a car crash -- not that I care about said celebrity, but that's a horrible thing.) I sincerily wish I could just get a few nights of dreamless sleep, then maybe I'd be less stressed -- that's not a way to start a Monday morning.

I have real horrible weird dreams a lot of time, and for the first time, recently, I had a dream I actually UNDERSTOOD...

I dreamed my laptop broke and I was very distraught, and my dad visits and says he got me the laptop of my dreams. I'm thinking a high powered Mac that dual boots Linux and OS...no. He pulls out this ugly laptop, where the top half is blue and the bottom is green. It's a Dell. and then he tells me he had it programmed so that it would only EVER boot Windows Vista Beta.

...CS Major, what?

I don't know if this counts or not but...

I had a dream a couple of days ago where my cat was making noise in the room so I would get up and feed her again (as she normally does). I started to get up and felt her weight on my feet. She was asleep so I looked around the room and saw another identical cat and caught her and put her on the bed next to my cat. Then I talked to them, trying to figure who was the real cat. For some reason they could talk, and they both tried to convince me who was real. It was like one was evil and one was good but we ended up coming to the arrangement that I would keep both as long as they'd stopwaking me up in the middle of the night.

This morning I dreams (or had hallucinations from the flu) that my husband got up to use the bathroom and the cat was on my feet. Then I heard and saw the other cat next to the bed on the floor. I kept calling for Brian, for real - out loud, but he didn't hear me because my voice is scratchy from being sick. I kept waiting for him to come out of the bathroom but then I realized he was right next to me and had never gotten up. It was extremely real; I never had the feeling that I was asleep or woke up.

That's all I've got!

Well, I've been having odd dreams, but this beats all.

For about six months I have been finding myself doodling an odd little symbol. I couldn't place it and had no idea where it had come from.

I'd begun to investigate, because it was driving me nuts. It looked like a Z with a tail that looped at the end. I thought of an alchemy symbol, but nothing that was exact.

The other day I bought an iced coffee from the Japanese stand in our local food store. I have a thing about reading the Nutrition Facts and found myself looking at the Japanese characters. And there it was...my little symbol.

I started looking up Kanji and Hiragana and Katakana. I was also playing with many different name translators. In Katakana, I didn't notice anything other than my name being Misheru in Japanese. But in Hiragana, though the English spelling is the same, the characters are different. The last two letters are the single symbol RU in Japananese. RU is my little Z symbol with the funny loopy tail.

Too effing weird. I don't know what it means, but it is definitely odd.

*Big massive hug* Hi!! Long time no talk to. I have been meaning to email you for a while now but life is not co-operating.

I have been having weird dreams for the last little while, 3 in the last 5 days, including one last night. Last night I ran into JKR at a mall, and then she invited me and the Ottawa HP gang to hang out at her place (as a basic explaination), in another I was pregnant *NO GODS NO!!! Runs screaming to hid in a corner sobbing*. And the last one, or I guess the first one I had, was Snakes on a Plane, but the plane was inside my house. And I haven't even seen that movie! If you want details of these dreams I will give them to you, but in an email since it would take waaaay too much room here. I have woken up several other times in a cold sweat, I don't remember the dreams, just that they freaked me out. Sounds like something weird is going on, the world over.

Miss you *big hug*

Well, I always have weird vivid dreams...but lately I've been having some(well, two) where I'm in a state of pure rage. And they both involve my boyfriend. ^^; Over stuff that normally wouldn't bother me. In those two cases, it's not the content of the dream that's surprising, it's the fact that I was in a state of pure killing rage. And I haven't felt that kind of anger in a long time in real life, much less in a dream.

Usually I have three types of weird dreams--one where I'm flying. The other where it's some large building in an unnatural landscape, with lots and lots of weird connecting doors, and I'm always going through all the doors, either looking for something, exploring, or running away. The last type is where I'm running away(not scared, cause I'm never scared in my dreams. I don't get nightmeres), and I take apart some weird vent thing and crawl through it, and it leads to some new exciting place.

I love my dreams. They're always surreal, fantasy like and sometimes would actually make a good book plot.

Anything can happen in them...sometimes I'm male, sometimes female, sometimes switch between genders. I have sex as either gender with either gender. Sometimes I'm not me. Sometimes stuff is happening to another character and I'm just watching in the dream, like watching a movie.

The other day I had a really vivid dream.

And my writing it up got so long that I decided to post it on my own livejournal:

I do too! It usually starts out with just one tooth that's loose, and I'm trying not to mess with it but it just keeps on getting looser. And eventually all my teeth are crumbling. I just spit them out, cause I have a mouthful of crumbled teeth.

I recently had a dream with no plot, which hasn't ever happened to me before (unless I just forgot). But it was all, NAKED JAPANESE BOYS, and backseat car windows, and condoms, and random appearances by my friends, and colors, and a spiraling tunnel. It was so amazing. Like an acid trip, or so I've heard they are.

Definitely been having very vivid and odd [but not scary] dreams lately.

I really should keep a notebook at my bedside.

One of the dreams I was hangin' with an flister, but she looked like a different one, which I know she does not in rl. ;P

If I have to go pee, usually I'll wake up from a dream where I'm in some weird-ass, totally unreal bathroom, but can't go for whatever reason--there's no door, or I've decided heck with it and *still* have like, performance anxiety, or whatever. I've had this happen with...at least five different weird fictional tripped out bathrooms. o.O
And they're always very spacious, or at least have way more commodes than makes sense. ;P

For the past two weeks, I have had difficulty getting the kids ready for school in the morning because I keep falling back into these sort of dreams. They feel real to me. I feel pain in dreams. I can smell or taste things. One recent dream had me sobbing after I dropped the kids off, because for an hour, I had actually believed that I had had a miscarriage. Even though on a conscious level I know that I cannot have any more children, I felt the loss in a very tangible way.
Dream interpretation interests me, as well as other psychological or paranormal studies. I'm still very grounded in reality; I just think that the human race has only scratched the surface of the true nature of things.

Yep, me too.
I usually never remember my dreams, and if I do, it's always something really fantastical, and has nothing to do with what happens to me that day. But this past week, I woke up knowing what I had dreamt four days in a row, and every time, it had something to do with school or my immediate life.

Cthulhu must be wakening from his unliving slumber to trouble the dreams of men...have their been any major earthquakes, especially in the Pacific region, recently?

Actually, that is really weird. I know someone mentioned dreams of water, and power to control it with - and water is the element Cthulhu is associated with. The fact that part of the dream was of an entity who could do the same thing, but better, just compounds it...
