Fandom Poll - all ticky boxes, all the time.

As many of you have noticed, a lot of us that came in under the same fandoms have drifted over time. That's normal, especially as fandoms shift, canons close, and people move on. I'm just curious though - what fandoms do you now claim as home? I'm kinda curious to see where my friends have found themselves in their fandom lives. So... a poll![Poll #1471249][Poll #1471249]

Transformers.

Harry Potter and Gundam Wing are my two most active fandoms at this time... I'm also really into Star Trek and Harry Potter Crossovers which means in a couple months or so I'll be a full blown Star Trek fan.

Heh, this is my last NCIS icon left before I would have had to break out the Tiva ones don't hate me!.

I know Tony/Ziva and Gibbs/Tony seem to be the major ships in this fandom, but while I like Tony/Ziva and McGee/Abby I'm not really into any of the Gibbs/other team member ships. Which kind of limits my shipping options, huh?

Eh, I'm still very much a newbie in NCIS fandom, though. Maybe they'll grow on me. I tend to attach to het ships first before branching out to slash. I was the same way with HP.

Ooh, poll! :)

Harry Potter's a weird one for me; I voted passive because I'm mostly re-reading fic lately, rather than devouring new stuff. But I suppose it's sort of an on-again-off-again fandom for me. It's probably more of a passive fandom for me now, but I have moments where I'm reading my way through all sorts of shiny new fic.

As for my active fandoms:

Buffy - I'm slowly working my way through the series... I have no time to watch right now, though.
Anime series - Hetalia. I'm reading so, so much Hetalia fic it isn't even funny.
Other Book series - Temeraire. Also Nightrunner, but that tends to be more passive than active. Waiting eagerly on the next books for both (whenever those happen to come out...)
TV fandoms - NCIS and Criminal Minds. I have so much love for Criminal Minds. So much love.

[identity profile] cool-tre-cool.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I've define "active" as "have read/written fics and/or talked with other people about". The only thing I'm active in (right now) that you don't have up is Leverage... Yay! I comment!defined for you. *grabs herself a damn cookie*

[identity profile] silver-osiris.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Active: Halo, Red v. Blue, Mass Effect
Semi-Active: Harry Potter
Past: TMNT, Smallville, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica

[identity profile] graspless.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
Active: Buffy,Firefly,Chuck,Burn Notice [Currently devouring fanvid/fanfic and trying to convince myself that I have enough time to at least flashfic.]

Passive:

(In which I used to be active):Indiana Jones, The Matrix, Young Wizards-verse (Diane Duane), Harry Potter, Dead Poet's Society
(In which I am interested): International Sesame Appreciation (It's an odd hat, but a fun one),Star Wars,McGuireverse (Wicked, etc.)

[identity profile] melusinahp.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 08:05 am (UTC)(link)
I'd add Wicked Gentlemen and The Demon's Lexicon to my list. :)

[identity profile] lunalovegoddess.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 11:36 am (UTC)(link)
Passive: Buffy, Angel, Tru Calling, Dollhouse, Stargate SG-1, Anita Blake, Southern Vampire series, Wonderfalls, etc.

Most of my fandoms are passive now, mainly due to my insane writer's block and bouts of depression, but also because my interest in certain series (*cough*Anita Blake*cough*) started to drop off. The last Anita Blake fic I'd read was Mhalachai's "Switchback", which is an alternate reality type plot. Most of what I'm drawn to lately are reimaginings or alternate timeline stories, especially ones where the main character remembers things differently.
The only fandom that I'm still fairly active in is Harry Potter, although I've been drawn to the CLAMP anime fandoms. (Cardcaptor Sakura, xxxHolic, etc.)

[identity profile] blackcurrent08.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
You mentioned Bleach but you did not mention Naruto or Inuyasha. Both are active for me apart from Harry Potter, LOTR and Bleach.

[identity profile] mijan.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, definitely sick. *sigh* I'm at home today because I don't want to give this to anyone else. My lungs hurt. Not pleased with this. Mmmm... more tea.

Translating a poem about a man castrating himself? Dare I ask? Yes, strange, but most stories really are strange, if you look at them closely.

So, when do you get some breathing space from school? Winter break between semesters?

[identity profile] artistflop.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Um... House, Dollhouse, and NCIS for additional passive fandoms.

[identity profile] vixys.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
*sighs* You get sick far too much. I think I must be having some sort of malign influence. :( *hugs* *gives much tea*

It's one of Catullus' poems - number 63, I think. I haven't got much further than that (*is a lazy arse*), but it's kinda odd - especially considering after he's castrated himself, all the adjectives/whatnot that agree with him (in terms of word endings and the like) become feminine. Which I like, in a geeky sort of way. /ranting geekery :D

Breathing space? Quite soon, actually. :D We have half term in a little under a week, which means I get a week and a half off, in which I am just going to sprawl. Good tiiiiiimes. :D

I think it has more to do with the fact that several nasty viruses are going around right now, that I was in close-contact with a whole bunch of people this past weekend, and that I got just a little bit hypothermic on Saturday because I was outside in windy conditions with temperatures barely above freezing for about three hours wearing nothing but a ripped t-shirt. Hehe... my bad. :D

/ranting geekery

I like the geekery. I'm gonna go look it up. :D

And OMG YAY FOR YOU HAVING BREATHING SPACE!!! You sprawl and relax and... maybe... spend some time on LJ with all of your geeky friends?

And now... I'm gonna continue enjoying my large mug of Earl Grey tea and watching the Search for Spock. :D

[identity profile] vixys.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)

Dude. Not clever. *gives jumper*

And if we're on the subject of recommending Latin poetry, Catullus 16. :D Especially the translation given on the Wikipedia page. Ah, that man's very, very rude.

spend some time on LJ with all of your geeky friends?
God, I hope so. It depends, though - my parents/brother are going away for a bit at half term, but I'm staying at home, so I think basically all my RL friends are pitching up at my house and camping out for a few days, but I should be able to be online-sociable for a bit. *dances*

... and is it bad that you say Earl Grey and I think Picard? :D

[identity profile] mijan.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude. Not clever. *gives jumper*
No, it wasn't clever. But... but... it was awesome, because I was a ZOMBIE REDSHIRT!!! We had three of us done up as zombie redshirts! It was a charity walk to raise hunger awareness and for people to donate non-perishable goods to a local food pantry charity. Zombie walk for hunger. And what better to make a zombie than a redshirt, or a whole squad of them? :D

Pictures soon, I promise.

Sounds delightful! *goes hunting*

Have fun with your RL friends, too, of course. I just hope to get to see you, too. I'm greedy like that. :D

And no, it's not bad to think Picard. I used to watch a whole VHS of TNG episodes every time I was sick, and I'd accompany that with several cups of Earl Grey tea throughout the day. And yes, blame Picard for that. I like good tea anyway, but it was a fun excuse for it.

And gods, I had forgotten how much I loved the TOS crew's interactions, in the series or the movies. I just love those guys. It had been too long since I'd seen them.

[identity profile] vixys.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, I'll give you that one: zombie redshirts would be kinda cool. And yes, I think pictures are definitely in order. :D

I'm greedy like that. :D
:D Greedy is not a bad thing. But, alas, there are not enough hours in the day for everything I want to do. *angry face* Stupid time, with its linearness.

It had been too long since I'd seen them.
You been rewatching, then? Or just in general? Eh, that's another thing I want to do when days lengthen to forty hours each: watch TOS. *glares at to-do list*

[identity profile] pannymoomins.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
my other active fandoms were naruto and stargate atlantis.

[identity profile] mijan.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, zombie redshirts are VERY cool. We had a lot of people take pictures of us. :D

Yes, stupid linearness of time. I've considered trying to alter it, but there's that whole time-space continuum thing with its risk of destroying reality. I also thought about slowing the rotation of the earth, but then we'd cause planet-wide cataclysm and destruction of all life on the planet, so I scratched that idea.

And yeah, I'm re-watching all of this. TOS, the movies... I'd always loved them, but I just hadn't seen them in so long. I love the new movie for so many reasons, but not the least of which is that it's making me remember what I loved about the originals all over again. :D

[identity profile] vixys.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm. Enough time to do everything I want to do, or destroy the world. Tricky choice. :D

Also, that icon confuses me. I mean, I get what it means, but it seems to imply a certain negativity towards the new film which you don't seem to have, so... *is confused*

[identity profile] mijan.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I made that icon the evening after seeing the film for the first time. I had a hard time accepting the new canon, the changes they'd made, and so on. So, I made this GIF.

I don't still have that negativity. I've got a lot of love for the new movie. It just took me a while. I don't use that icon anymore, really. But I thought it was well made, how I matched up the images.

But no, I'm not negative to the new movie anymore at all. :)

[identity profile] vixys.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I noticed you're not exactly negative anymore. :) I was just wondering. It is a shiny icon, but the sentiment seemed a little at odds with what I thought your opinions are.

Basically, I'm being wonderfully nosy. :D *hugs*

[identity profile] mijan.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I like it when you're wonderfully nosey. It means I get to keep chatting with you. :D

Yeah, shiny icon from the few weeks when I was still having a hard time wrestling with the changes to canon and my beloved characters. And now, I've just come to the conclusion that I have new beloved characters!

Also, the more I watch Shatner's Kirk in TOS and the old movies, the more I see the parts I loved so much coming through in Chris Pine's incarnation of Kirk. :)

[identity profile] vixys.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Obviously I'm no expert on TOS!Kirk and whatnot, but I do think it's quite good that all the actors say they went and watched TOS, and that they're not just reading the lines. That's dedication, and it's respect for the franchise and the fans.

And now, I've just come to the conclusion that I have new beloved characters!
:D The best way to think about it, I think, because otherwise your brain will just implode. Which would be bad. *hugs*
