Fandom Poll - all ticky boxes, all the time.

As many of you have noticed, a lot of us that came in under the same fandoms have drifted over time. That's normal, especially as fandoms shift, canons close, and people move on. I'm just curious though - what fandoms do you now claim as home? I'm kinda curious to see where my friends have found themselves in their fandom lives. So... a poll![Poll #1471249][Poll #1471249]

I hemmed and hawed a bit over Harry Potter. I'm nowhere near as active as I once was, but I'm still reading/writing fic.

My "other" is the TV series "Being Human".

I just don't have time for fandom anymore with the full-time teaching gig.

At the moment, my only REALLY active fandom is DBSK, a Korean idol group. Amazing boys, amazing music, and a wonderful fandom. They've totally eclipsed my interest in just about everything else.

My most active fandom is still HP. My next most active is still Tin Man. I read and poke around in SGA, Merlin, and Star Trek, although I haven't had the time and/or motivation to write in any of them... yet.

*pokes*

Active fandom: Team Fortress 2, a video game about blowing people up into ITTY BITTY PIECES (as Heavy would say).

[identity profile] mijan.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the Star Wars prequels actually killed my interest in being active in that fandom. I have a hard time not hating George Lucas after that.

Erm, so my active fandom right now is Top Gear.

I'm passively involved in Supernatural (which I'm more involved with outside of fandom) and Harry Potter. Which I indicated up there. :P

Add The Sentinel and Highlander to the passive list for me. I love both of these and was very active at one time, but not much is going on currently and it's pretty easy to keep up with the current output.

Hmm..wonder why I didn't get the e mail on this. Uh, okay, anyway, I'm sorry you're getting sick..I'm getting it too. Hubby's got something, thinks he's dying, and I don't even recognized as having anything. So yeah. Sickly rambling. *hugs*

I don't think I can call any of my fandoms passive--if I liked them well enough to look at fanfiction once, I still do!

At this point I'll drop everything to read anything in Kuroshitsuji fandom, will look at most Temeraire and Master and Commander fic because there's not much of it out there, will read Death Note and Avatar and Code Geass fanfiction if it's a pairing I like, pick and choose my Harry Potter fics, and pick and choose my Doctor Who/Torchwood fics very carefully. Other stuff sneaks in here and there.

My active fandom is Bandom. Several different bands fall under the Bandom umbrella, but I mainly focus on My Chemical Romance.

And I have two kinds of passive fandoms. The kinds that I keep up with the canon for the most part, and the kinds where I'm mostly done with them. I don't really count the former as active because after a brief initial burst, I don't really seek out anything beyond the canon. I counted comics as "something completely different," though I waffled between that and counting them as "Another book series."

Active in Dexter with a finger or two in Mad Men

Passive in Highlander, X-Files, and Xena

Edit:
Also VERY much still active in Batman (both comics and movies canon)

Criminal Minds, NCIS, Top Gear. I do occasionally read fic in all of my passive fandoms...

It's fun that you asked this because it's a question I've been struggling with for a while. Since my interest in HP went into hibernation I haven't really been as into any other fandom. I've had brief active periods for a lot of otherwise passive fandoms like Star Trek and SGA, but otherwise it's just been Laurie R. King's Mary Russell series and Avatar: The Last Airbender. I've actively focused on becoming more of a gamer again.

It just sort of feels like a lot of fandoms are in a downcycle right now. There's not a lot of quality stuff coming out and still some weird infighting.

Okay, a note of explanation. The fandom I am most active in right now is Supernatural RPS. I primarily read fic of the rps variety. But I also follow the fictional canon and write meta on the canon. I just don't read much fps. I do still consider myself active in Harry Potter, but I'm nowhere near as focused on h/d as I used to be. I do still read h/d fic occasionally, but my primary reading interests are focused on jared/jensen slash. However, when I think about writing fic (which I've done very little of as of late), I end up back in h/d land. Other fandoms that I follow but am not actively participating in include: Leverage, Smallville, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, and the various Stargate series. There might be others, too. I'm interested in checking out Glee, Merlin, and The Vampire Diaries, but just haven't had time yet. And there are some book series that I like but wouldn't quite say I'm part of the *fandoms* (e.g., Twilight, Inheritance Cycle, Dark Tower...). I just don't have enough time for all the stuff I want to do in fandom.

Other active fandoms: Criminal Minds (Dr. Reid!), CSI, Law & Order SVU

[identity profile] rubymiene.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Waffled in ST:Reboot. On the one had, I have been reading fic, on the other, it hasn't been that many, and I'm not actively seeking it out, just reading fics people I know post.
As for past active fandoms, Animorphs and Brokeback Mountain.

Well darn. That's my only sole!Abby icon.

However...

Oh, Tony with handcuffs. That's not even fair. :)

Gotta love Tony with handcuffs!

Twilight is my other fandom. I know, shut up. I just can't get enough of the teenage vampire angst.

[identity profile] trigeekgirl.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
I'm out of NCIS icons. :( That icon might be my only canon ship, though, and it's really more of an inflatable dinghy.
