ART: Portrait of CMO McCoy
Title: Portrait of CMO McCoy
Artist:
mijan
Rating: G
Warnings: Deeply furrowed eyebrows of doom. :D
Fandom: Star Trek ST:XI
Character: Leonard "Bones" McCoy
Medium: Mechanical pencil and computer printer paper
Notes: I drew this at lunch, while looking for Star Trek photos to caption. I kept seeing the picture of McCoy looking pensive, and decided to sketch it into a portrait. I haven't drawn portraits in a few years, so I'm rusty, but it feels good to try my hand at this again. I might try to do more. :)

And not "of course." How was I to know? I'm NERVOUS! I don't usually post fanart! I can be all confident about my fanfic because I'm used to that now, but fanart isn't familiar territory for me. I'm glad you think it's okay! That gives me more confidence, which I need. And it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy that you're happy to see me doing art. I shall continue to do more! :D

Talented new friend is talented! I LOVE the pondering eyebrows! :D

Glad you seem to like!

Well, I know shit-all about Star Trek, so I can't weigh in on ACCURACY, but I really dig that it captures an emotion so well. Plus I have this eyebrow thing and... Yeah... never mind...
:p

Here, see this icon for a reference picture. (Not calling you an idiot.)

Now I just need to think of a way to get you to draw Adam Lambert and all will be well with the world... *snicker*
Eyebrows... UNF.

I might draw Kirk next, though. :D

Although, Chris Pine? DO WANT. :D

Karl Urban is QUITE tasty too, though. I think Karl and Chris would be very tasty TOGETHER.

There's a real sense of movement in his eyebrows and forehead as well as concern in the eyes. The balance and proportion are good, too. And it's pretty :)

I'm going to keep sketching, and I hope to get better at this again. It's been so long, but I'm glad I'm not completely rusty! :D
Who shall I sketch next? (Also, I love his pose in that icon of yours.)

I don't have a lot of Trek comms marked, but you can check

I love the brows.

Hopefully, I'll continue to improve my skills again with practice. But who shall I draw next?

Kirk, huh? Mmm.... which pose? Because I'm kinda using these portrait-style pictures as warm-ups. Getting used to drawing again. It's been a long time.

Or at least, 99% of the fandom folks who know me for my fanfic aren't really aware that I do. I'm not very good, at least, not like some of the fanartists, and I only really did art to illustrate my own H/D fanfic. And I used to do a lot of art when I was younger. Almost went to art school, but I wanted to be a doctor, so I went for my biology degree. Kinda stopped drawing for a while. But... I was sitting at my desk today and got inspired by some of the Trek pics I saw. So, I grabbed a sheet of computer paper and a mechanical pencil and went to town. I hope it's decent. *wibbles*
I want to keep practicing, but I don't want to neglect fanfic. I'm busy writing a Trek/Potter crossover right now, on a dare. Draco/Chekov, canon-compliant. I'm insane. *Grins*

Was actually thinking about you today. Meet with a member of the Knitting Guild, we are working on the newsletter together. She showed me these wooden shawl pins that her husband had made, they reminded me of mini wands.

And I miss you! I feel special that you thought of me! *huggles*

and wickedly funny, apparentlystick figure cartoons, but proper drawing is not my forte... :D)One thing. I don't know, and I'm not a goddamn artist, that's for sure, but his hair looks a bit weird to me. Kinda like there's too much of it? Idk. It's just (to me) the height of the hair seems disproportionate to the height of the face. :D /ramble

I don't draw that well. Dammit, I'm a
biologist doctor singerfanfic writer, not a fanartist! But... I'm glad it worked for you!And no, the hair is right. There are plenty of other minor errors, but the hair isn't one of them. I was actually really happy with how that came out.

Also, pffffttt I say to your "I'm not a fanartist." ;)

And no, I'm not a fanartist. Just every so often, I feel like sketching something, is all. :D
