Let's keep this train going...

More "Unstoppable" stuff... CNN's I-report has a brief set of interviews with the cast, including a short segment with Chris Pine talking about the everyday folks behind the story in the movie.  Whenever I hear this guy talk, I get the impression that he really *does* think a lot, that he considers the stuff he says, and that he's not just waxing poetic for the camera.  If he is just playing up the intellectual ethics for the camera, then I'd be disappointed (impressed with his acting, but still disappointed), but I really think this is just the way Pine is.

Sean Astin strikes me the same way. He is very intelligent, articulate, and his conversation is thought provoking.

I met and chatted with Sean at Dragon*Con this summer... we talked for several minutes. He's done a lot of work with military folks, and yes, he's very thoughtful, articulate, and interesting. Also very sweet with a spontaneous sense of humor. He randomly reached over with his autograph sharpie and signed my lunch. I was dressed in my Frodo costume at the time, and he called me Frodo... was very funny. I was definitely impressed with the guy, and I'd love to meet him again.

I think he's for real. He's consistent, anyway, and I mean, as long as I'm fantasizing... *g*

In a parallel universe, I went to Berkeley, we studied English together, fell in love, and are having hot sex right now.

I can't decide if this is comforting or distressing.

I think he's for real, too... which is why I find him interesting. He's said a lot of things that resonate. We're the exact same age, so I can relate.

In a parallel universe, I watched one of his college theater performances, recognized and admired his talent long before he got famous, and got into a deep discussion after one of the plays. Then we kept in touch over the years as I continued to tell him that he'd strike it HUGE someday, and after the breakthrough success of Star Trek, I sent him a box of Kirk Waffles and said, "Told you so!"

So... don't be distressed about your little fantasy. Mine is far more convoluted.
