Quick update...
I'm back from Arisia (geek convention in Boston), and I had a blast. As always. I love cons. I love the people, the discussions, the randomness, the geekery, the excitement, the energy, the experience... all of it. Arisia is an amazing convention, and if anyone feels like traveling for anything smaller than Dragon*Con, then Arisia is the regional convention to attend. SO. MUCH. FUN. I absolutely love it every time.
What I don't love is feeling like I've been hit by a steam roller.
I went into Arisia already feeling a bit under the weather. Not sick like a cold, but sick like dizzy and fatigued and faintly icky. Now, I seem to have a very mild head cold on top of already feeling icky. Feels like I've been kicked in the gut by a horse. Vision is oddly blurry. And gods, I just want to lie down. But I'm at work, and I still have more work to do.
So now, I'm going to go play with radioactive waste. WOO-freakin'-HOO. And then I'm going to try to complete another training module for general HAZMAT qualification renewal. And then I'm going to go home and collapse. But I can't really collapse... for two reasons.
#1. I'm going to ANOTHER convention this weekend, and I need to wash, dry, fold, and re-pack all of my costumes.
#2. It's my wife's birthday, and I am determined to do SOMETHING for it.
So, in summary: Arisia was awesome. I am *ded*. I will post in detail about Arisia when I am not!*ded*. Also, happy birthday DeForest Kelley - you are missed. And Happy Birthday
fiona_fawkes - I love you, hun.

I'm glad you had a good time though, and I hope heading off to another convention so soon doesn't trigger more illness!
Feel better!

Thanks, hun.

I'm sure I'll be fine though. I'm pretty resilient.

And how am I an idiot? I've been getting plenty of sleep and trying to take care of myself. I even got sleep while I was AT the convention! Give me some credit for trying, right?

Medics make the worst patients.

And I'll rest tonight, okay? I'm trying to decide if I should see a doctor ASAP or wait until my real appointment next week. As of now, nothing is acute, so I'm waiting at the moment.

*repeats*

Careful there - you might dent my desk.

Did you have fun?

STOP BEING A KIRK AND GET YOUR SICKASS TO THE MEDBAY, OR MOMMY WILL UNLEASH HER WRATH!
In other news, glad you fun.
I want to see pictures!

There's seriously only so much a doctor can do, and at the moment, it's illogical for me to go. My symptoms aren't acute. If it gets to that point, I will, but there's no reason at the moment for me to burden an ER or waste time in an urgent care clinic.
Besides... if it gets too bad but I continue to be stubborn, my wife will drag me there herself.
There will be pictures, eventually. :)
For now... I'm particularly fond of this pic from the Masquerade competition:

You ignited Mommy mode and now I'm going to be all panicked and worried and have a strong urge to make you soup.
You seriously just used the world illogical. Oh my god.
.......Logic be damned! If you die before I become your best friend so I can walk around saying I'm friends with Frodo, I"ll eat you.
I salute your wife then.
Speaking of wives, I'm getting one myself.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Frodo. Tap dancing Christ on a cracker.
That is pretty damn epic m'dear.

And yes, I used the word "illogical." It's a very good word. And seeing as I have no intentions of dying (seriously, that would put such a damper on my fun), you don't have to worry about that.
Oh, and so suddenly now I'm not Bones, I'm Frodo? One picture, and wham! There goes my "omg you look like Karl and De's love child!" status. *snicker* I get quite into my cosplay, and pick characters I know I can perform. I've been told by many people that Frodo is my most accurate character (natural curls, and I'm short), but I've had other folks say the same about other characters, too. I'll leave that up to each observer, and just have fun with it. I'm glad you think it's epic, though. I'm still waiting to find a video of the presentation with Frodo. I'll try to get more pictures posted soon.
You're getting a wife, huh? When did this happen?
Aaaand... are you on IM?

BRB LOLLIN FOREVER.
Hope you ate every damn drop of that soup.
Well this is what happens when you become friends with mothers, we smack you down over the internet. XD
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. SPPPPPPPPPOOOOOOOOOOOOCKKKKKK! Oh Nero.
Seriously, you better not.
You're still the love child, fear not (HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. KELLEY! <3). You just make a funny Frodo. Like if I didn't like you so much I would macro the shit out of that picture.
Sounds quite epic, can't wait to see. XD
YES. I AM.
LIKE GOD DAMN THAT WASNT THE MOST NERVE WRACKING THING OF MY LIFE.
Seriously, the LSATS weren't as bad.

I am jealous, two conventions in a row... I live in the wrong part of the world. Great photo BTW.
and your shout-out to DeForrest Kelly brought a big smile this morning. THANKS!
PS Happy B'day to your lady.

I'll pass on the b-day wishes!

Did not realize you could actually grow cloud ears semi-locally - learned something new!
Do be sure to take care of yourself, there are scary things out there that you do NOT want catching you!

I'm trying to take care of myself, I promise. *sigh*

As for damp spring, um Colorado - not so much, but is a nice, and yummy, thought!

Just try not to die, mmkay? *epic hugs*
Also, I still demand photos. :D

Also, I'm working on setting up the photos right now. :D
Damn, I wish you had instant messenger.

And I approve of the taking-the-day-off-work idea. *hugs* And yeah, I'm around. I have no school tomorrow, so I don't have to do any work tonight. Talk awaaaaaaaay.
*waits for photos* ♥

Yeah, taking the day off is good, especially because my vision keeps going fuzzy on me.
Currently working on editing photos. Coming soon! Here's a preview:

And! Something I discovered today about Oxforddddddd. (*dances*) Apparently, the University has a Tolkien society, and when they have dinners and whatnot, the students come dressed as characters from the books - so, essentially, that means that cosplay and fandom are parts of Oxford culture. I APPROVE OF THIS.
Anyway... :D ♥♥
no subject
OOOOH, fancy cosplay! I wish I could come! *cries*
no subject
Hell, you come over, and I'll invite you. Or something. I don't know how these things work. :D *wallows in her ignorance*
Also, Freeeeeeeench. I miss French. Except I had a bitch of a teacher my last year, so yeah. Hmm. ♥
no subject
Yay for invitation! :D Everyone loves Frodo, right?
Ick... bitchy teachers can ruin it for anyone. But YAY FRENCH!
no subject
Yes, everyone does love Frodo. Even Sauron, really. :D Also, you have read the books, right? I assume you have, because you're not exactly the halfway sort of fandomer, but still. I have to check. Welcome to my crazy world. And don't feel disrespected! Please? *tries not to be so strange*
Year 10, I had an awesome teacher - she never actually taught us anything, but we just seemed to absorb the language, and so we all got A*s in our end of year exams. The next year, the teacher was not so good. She was the only teacher I've ever been so snarky to that I was sent out of the class.
Fun times. :D ♥

Yes, I've read the books... but I'll admit... I don't like Tolkien's writing style. I love the stories, but I dislike his style of story-telling. His dialogue is flat. In other words, almost all of his characters sound like his other characters, with the exceptions of Smeagol, Samwise, and Gimli. I actually think the movies brought the world to life better than the books, even though I was irked at the changes they made.
Heee... I'd love to have seen how snarky you were in class.
no subject
To be honest, I don't really mind the changes movies make. I mean, it's going to happen, so I just kinda ignore it now - but yeah, the whole paths of the dead bit in the RotK film kinda irks me. THAT IS NOT WHAT HAPPENED. AND WHERE ARE ELLADAN AND ELROHIR??
*breathes* Anyway. :D ♥
(There was much snark. And for the next week, I got the majority of my class coming up to me and congratulating me. Nobody really liked her. :D *facepalm*)
no subject
The changes they made for the movie weren't too bad, I'll admit. Some of them made me wonder why they did it though.
Heeee... now I REALLY wish I'd seen it. I've pulled a few stunts with obnoxious teachers myself. It's fun.
no subject
Sometimes I feel sorry for that teacher, to be honest. I mean, she treated us (in top-set French) like we were five, but still - she was trying, and we kinda... made it hard for her. Idk. *has a guilty conscience* ♥

Almost ready with photos.
