Baseball, beer, and memes!

Okay, I shouldn't do a meme... but I'm buzzed.  Not quite drunk, but I'm happily buzzed.  Sharing beer with my beloved fiona_fawkes and... my mother.  My mother is here in Kansas City, visiting, and we decided to do a beer sampling tonight and enjoy a quiet evening at home instead of going out and running around.  We're actually having a lot of fun.  I should do a post about the things we've done during her visit, but I'll do that later.  Oh, I should mention a couple of things now.

First, we went to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.  For those of you who haven't been paying attention, I'm a die-hard baseball fan.  I love all baseball (except the Yankees, although they do serve to make it intersting - especially when they get SPANKED by Tampa Bay, 9 to 1).  Anyway, a bit of history: back in the early part of the century, blacks were prevented from playing in the major leagues.  It was wrong, it was horrible, it was segregation, but it was a sad fact of life back then.  However, they formed the "Negro Leagues", which operated parallel to the regular major leagues.  And some of the BEST baseball in the country was played on the teams of those leagues.  Phenomenal players.  Amazing stories.  And they're remembered in that museum.  It's so well-done.  The displays, the articles, the history... the amazing baseball... remembered.  Honored as it should be.  If you're a baseball fan, you need to go.  Really.  Go.

In the same building is the Jazz Museum.  I went, because it was right there, and I love music, but I was there for the baseball.

My mother and I also went to two Kansas City Royals baseball games.  Lots of fun... it was just like the minor leagues of the Red Sox system, only with a bigger stadium!  Honestly, I had a lot of fun.  Decent baseball, lots of fun... and cheap tickets!

I had more job training today.  I LOVE my new job!  OMFG!  Today, for "job training", I got to play with dry ice, make goo, and make cotton candy (!), burn things, and zap things.  It's like the science, minus the brain-strain.  Oh, and I think I'm probably the most knowledgeable scientist there... because there were plenty of details they didn't know, and I was just able to easily supply the information, right off the top of my head.  I feel smart, or something.  *Grins*

And now, I'm buzzed on beer... so I'm going to do a meme... you know... I'm a happy drunk.  Really.  If you think I'm silly and friendly when I'm sober... hehe... *grins*   SQUEEE!  And what's really funny... I'm getting drunk in front of my mother.  But she's cool.  Hell, she's read my slash fanfic... and seen my NC-17 slash art... she's pretty cool.  And she's laughing at me in my drunken state.  And fiona_fawkes doesn't know what to do with me.  *bounces*  Oooh.... good beer... Samuel Adams beer... Octoberfest...

But yeah, I was usually too busy reading or doing something interesting to bother watching movies.  There are the classics, and the important ones, and the things that one of your friends insists on watching randomly, but... meh. 

So now... I shall wrap this up... and find more beer!  *grins*

Wow, a no hitter?! That's awesome! Who was it? Wait, I'll probably see it on ESPN tomorrow. I'm going to watch and see what they say about the upset of the century, M*ch*gan lost to Appilcition State (sp?) That's the #5 team in the country losing to a Div 1 AA team. In baseball terms, the Yankees losing to a minor team:P LMAO!!!
