HP 7, P1

Just got back from watching Deathly Hallows, Part 1.  NO SPOILERS, but the following general reactions to the movie as a whole:

- Best STORYTELLING of any of the movies.
- OMG, they went there (repeatedly), and didn't hold back.
- This is NOT a children's movie, and they make NO attempt to sugar-coat it.
- Yes, there was "camping," but the film kept MOVING the plot along, and I think it was a really spot-on representation of what they went through.

I think it's the best yet.  I was seriously impressed.

Go watch it.  Twice.

i can think of two possible "theres" for "THEY WENT THERE"

hint me at which you mean? =P

If you can think of a "there," and it was in the book, the answer is yes.

"and it was in the book"

yes, i understand now =P

I agree with everything. :)

I agree so, so much. As I told the friend that stood in line for five hours with me, in a whooping yell as soon as the credits rolled--THEY FINALLY GOT IT RIGHT.

If this is the way nearly half my life comes to a close, at least I finally feel like it is going to get the send-off it deserves.

Probably gonna see it again tomorrow night, not gonna lie.

Yeah, if they finish the second half of this book with an equally well-made, compelling movie, then I'll be delighted to close this chapter of my life on such a high note. I'd stopped looking forward to the movies because they had nothing good to offer. I'm glad they've finally gotten it right. Too bad they didn't figure it out sooner.

I'm going to see it again, probably tonight, because my wife hasn't seen it yet. :D

And Iiiiii've....

...gotta wait until the 30th. ::sadtear::

Nice to hear good things about it, though. :D

[identity profile] mijan.livejournal.com 2010-11-19 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry that you have to wait so long! But yes, it will be worth it. I promise. :D

Me, too. Loved it!

I LOVED it!

I agree with you on all counts.

I am definitely watching it again. I am SO impressed by this movie. The entire theater (packed theater, 12:01 a.m.) was ENTHRALLED.

[identity profile] mijan.livejournal.com 2010-11-19 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it was ten kinds of awesome. I was finally PLEASED with one of the movies. Until now, the best I've been able to say was, "I'm not too pissed about what they screwed up." This time, I'm actually pleased. :)

And yeah, I'm watching it again, too. :D

I'm so excited to see it!

even though it was my least favorite book

[identity profile] mijan.livejournal.com 2010-11-19 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, even if it was your least favorite book, the movie was fantastic. It did RIGHT what so many of the other movies did horribly wrong. This one TOLD THE STORY.

I didn't even know it had come out! Drats, it isn't available here yet, and I can't even download it anywhere yet...

[identity profile] mijan.livejournal.com 2010-11-19 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, midnight last night! It was a blast!

I'm sure you'll get it soon. Remember, you've got the warm weather, and I've got Harry Potter. :D

[identity profile] melusinahp.livejournal.com 2010-11-19 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I am awash with bliss over the film. :D

No clue what "there" is though, lol.

[identity profile] elfsausage.livejournal.com 2010-11-19 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I liked it too :-) They left out lots of my favourite details, but having squeeze half of that massive book into a two hour movie I'm not surprised. And it was a relief that they didn't try to turn it into a kids' movie with all the intensity washed out.

I was surprised there weren't many people there though. I went at lunch time today and the theatre was less than half full. Guess it'll be all busy tonight, and over the weekend. I'm going again on Monday with the housemates. Yay!

[identity profile] pinkfinity.livejournal.com 2010-11-19 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely not a children's movie. The scene with Bellatrix torturing Hermione was chilling and terrifying. I'm going to see it again tomorrow and I can't remember the last time I did that re an HP film...

[identity profile] mijan.livejournal.com 2010-11-19 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm totally going to watch it again. (Careful - I promised a spoiler-free post. But yeah, that scene was horrifying and blood-curdling. I'm shocked, amazed, and actually quite impressed that they had the guts to do that in the film.)

[identity profile] pinkfinity.livejournal.com 2010-11-19 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry! For me, movie spoilers are things that aren't in the book at all, which is why I didn't say specifics. If you want to delete it, or screen it for a week or two, I totally understand.

[identity profile] mijan.livejournal.com 2010-11-19 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, I think it's enough hours old that not too many people are reading it. I don't freak out about "spoilers," but I know some folks do. Meh, it's all good. :)
