Arisia Cosplay: Frodo!

My brain is too tired to come up with anything coherent to say about Arisia other than the obvious fact that awesome convention was awesome.  However, while my verbal skills are currently lacking, that won't prevent me from offering Frodo Cosplay Picspam!  Here are some pics of me cosplaying as Frodo at Arisia.

One teaser:

First, here's my masquerade presentation, in order:

Frodo in the Shire. No ring, no war, no stress... yet:

Frodo receives the ring and realizes what he's gotten himself into.

Frodo receives his sword, Sting, from Elrond at Rivendell, upon becoming part of the Fellowship.

A closer look at the sword.

Frodo examines his blade.  I had to keep the sword peace-bonded into the scabbard for safety onstage, so I couldn't pull it out all the way, but it worked.  I love this picture:

One look back before venturing forward:

Frodo receives the Elven cloak and the light of Elendil from Galadriel.

Frodo approaches Mount Doom and prepares to drop the Ring. Gollum stalks Frodo and prepares to make his move for the Ring.

Tempted by the Ring's power... Frodo changes his mind and is briefly corrupted by the Ring.

After a brief struggle with Gollum, the entire stage goes dark and the music goes silent.  A few seconds later, a spotlight comes on as the theme "Into the West" begins to play, signifying that Frodo's quest is over:

One last look back before Frodo travels to the Grey Havens:

A couple more cosplay pics:

I've got some more pics, but I'll add them later.

You look very androgynous. (That was my first thought. I think that's a good thing. :D)

I also like how all the Elves have just got hoods over their faces. I now have Into the West stuck in my head.

I love your cosplay pics, bb. I AM JEALOUS OF YOUR TALENT. ♥♥

LOL... thank you for that first thought. Seeing as Frodo is fairly androgynous, it works. *laughs*

Well, the elves and Gandalf were just supposed to be shadows. I didn't have time to make all the costumes, and then I realized that dramatically, it worked better having only the one "real" character onstage anyway.

And do not be jealous! You got into OXFORD, okay? We all have our different things. I never made it to med school, but I make a brilliant Hobbit. :p

Hmm, yeah - I like the idea that they're shadows. Because you focus on Frodo (and disregard most of the other storylines), and I get anything to sharpen that focus would make it better. Shiiiiiiny.

*chants* OXFORD OXFORD OXFORD. It makes me so very happy every time I think about it. I'm a leetle bit obsessed, methinks.

Medicine is a scary profession. I have a friend who's applying this year, and she is quite terrified, which is fairly reasonable! Oh well... ♥

Yeah, that's why it was the journey of Frodo, not LotR. Focused on Frodo. With only 90 seconds or so onstage, we had to keep a tight focus.

LOL... I'm glad you're happy. It makes me vicariously happy, too.

Medicine might be a scary profession, but it's what I wanted, and it didn't scare me. Just wanted to go for it. *sigh*

:/ Surely it's never too late? I mean, I'm fairly hopeless on the US systems, but over here there are definitely places for older applicants. Hate to be a cliche, but it's never too late, right? *hugs* ♥♥

In this country, yes, it can be too late. I could still go to school... but too many hurdles right now. *sad*

*epic hugs* This is why England is better.

Well, for what it's worth, I think you'd've made an amazing doctor. And you do still help people (you've certainly helped me), even if not quite in the position you wanted.

*more hugs*

(Silly US system.) ♥

LOL... well, there are lots of reasons why I'm liking England more and more...

But I'd like to think I would have been a good doctor. *sigh*

*hugs again*
