I understand the difficulty with reading on a screen. I've printed out fics for my mother because she has the same difficulty.

I also know what you mean about long fics with lots of empty padding that goes nowhere, and I PROMISE you that this fic does NOT do that. It's pretty much hard-hitting and plot-driven from start to finish. There's definitely suspense and cliff-hanger scene endings. So, maybe when this is posted, it might be worth it to read? *is hopeful*
