I'm deeply flattered by this. Thank you. :)

The intent wasn't to educate, but to tell a realistic story. If that was educational by coincidence, then I'm glad of it.

I'm a Dom-oriented Switch, and I've experienced both sides of the coin, so this story is based on a combination of personal experience combined with an understanding of the characters. Of course McCoy would have his own tension and insecurities, which he would have to hide in his role as a Dom. Of course Kirk would go off to think just then, and McCoy would know that he NEEDED to go off and think. And the little details like the snapping needle casings and other cues that trigger the senses for the sub... gods above and below, that's the stuff that makes the scene. If that takes skillz.. then I'm glad I have them. *grins* I know how much depth there really is in a good BDSM scene, relationship, arrangement, agreement, or whatever, and I wish more fics showed that. The kink itself is just a surface-level manifestation of the inherent trust between the people involved.

But... I'm glad that it comes through that I have some decent depth of understanding about this stuff. It's kinda important to me, and I can't write about BDSM without being real about it. I apologize for making you think about stuff that might have been uncomfortable, but if nothing else, I'm glad that you seem to have enjoyed the ride. Thank you for the thoughtful comment!

And... if my reply has been rambling or odd... I apologize... I'm working off the New Year's champagne right now... and I'm a little bit tipsy. :)
