Re: Convergence Part 1 of 4...A comment...

Thank you for the thoughtful comment!

That was exactly my thought about the new 2009 movie. I loved it and hated it at once. I felt like it was missing certain things, and that in order to "fit" with what I know of Star Trek, and if I was going to be able to let myself fall in love with it the way I loved older Star Trek series, I needed to fill in the blanks. There needed to be some back-story that made it all make sense.

You're right... the bar brawl bothered me, too. New cadets attacking a civilian? However, there have been more bar brawls in Star Trek than just the one in the Trouble With Tribbles. In TNG, a young Picard started a bar fight with a Naussican, and it almost killed him. Basically, although Federation society has taken steps forward, individuals can still be hot-headed and stupid, especially when they're young. So I could swallow the idea that stupid cadets started a bar fight, I needed to see that there were consequences.

Anyway, I like exploring characters. I like to see what makes them tick, and dig into their back story. I'm glad you enjoyed coming along for the ride! I'm hoping to start on some new fanfiction soon. Stay tuned! And thanks for the comment!
