I like this kind of extended version of the scenes of the movies, it gives more depth into the characters and the scenes, but at the same time, it also shows the author's interpretation. I kinda like yours :D Makes Jim Kirk much more complex than he appears to be, or more bitter, as you showed from his reluctance in dealing with Pike.
I'm interested to note that Uhura, Cupcake and others are actually new recruits like Kirk and later McCoy. I kinda surprised maybe because I'm under the impression that they are already first-year cadets, in order for Kirk to be able to catch up in three years, assuming that Kobayashi Maru simulation is the final command test of some sort, and I saw Uhura there. I think that's how I get it from the novel by foster. Or did I miss something?
