I read this last night and have been thinking about it all day. Leads to amusing times at work, let me tell you.
First I'd like to mention that needles squick the hell out of me to the point where watching stock footage of someone getting a flu shot or even acupuncture on TV makes me nauseous and I get vertigo whenever someone even talks about having blood drawn. (Although I can watch animals get injections/have blood drawn and also do it myself perfectly fine - I think I need a psychologist to explain that one for me LOL.) But then on the other hand I've had piercings and know VERY well the endorphin rush that makes you go "OMG I WANT ANOTHER!" right after having one done. Basically I went into this understanding the kink but not knowing if I'd be able to keep on reading it because of my body's faily reaction towards needles. (I passed out after I got my nose pierced the first time - true story!)
After processing this fic for almost a day now, I've figured out that what kept me reading it was the beauty of the trust Jim and Bones had to have with each other for it to happen. It was touching in a way I didn't expect it to be.
And the art? Incredible. I can't look at Jim for too long because of that whole needle thing but the tension in his body is amazing and I luuuuuuurve Bones' face.
