Crush Meme! Oh dear...

Okay, so I was dared...
ANON CRUSH MEME

See... someone once told me that there are people who had fandom crushes on me.  Or hell, just crushes in general.  I didn't believe it.  Then someone else said so.  I thought that was nuts.  I couldn't fathom why.  So now... I've gotta know.  C'mon, folks - make me feel less silly about doing this.

Also, what's "fandom crushes", hobbit? Is it different from regular crushes?

Fandom crushes... kinda like fangirling, only more so. For example, say Mary Sue writes an amazing fanfiction. I read the fanfiction, then read Mary Sue's LJ. I find that I develop a crush on Mary Sue through her fandom awesomeness. Really, it's just a crush, only through fandom activities.

For example: simple midwestern girl stumbles upon a fic by Mijan that she likes, so she goes out in search of more. Reads the rest of Mijan's fics. Finds Mijan's LJ, friends her and reads all of her posts. ALL of them, going back several years. Get's giddy and nervous when commenting on Mijan's journal or anyplace where Mijan might read her comments. Makes an attempt to be awesome and help Mijan come up with songs to go with certain Harry Potter fanfictions. Attributes someone else's fic to one of Mijan's alternate pen names. Simple midwestern girl dies a horrible humiliating death in the comfort of her own computer chair and promptly defriends Mijan (who never actually friended her back in the first place) to avoid facing said humiliation on a daily basis.

Three years later, they get married. Most fandom crushes do not progress to this level of crazy cakes.

That... is quite possibly the most awesome courtship story EVER.

That needs to be a novel, or something. That is just... okay, you just made my day. I'm all smiley now.

:D

There was a bit about crossing paths in Vegas and going to hot tub parties and not finding her, but we'l save that for another day.

It was definitely a unique courtship. And there's more to it. But that was the shorthand version. :p

I was focusing on the crazy cakes part. Internet romance is so last year.

That's sad. Everyone should get to have cakes.

No, no. This is good. Imagine the horror of the universe if one of Mijan's other fandom crushes had gotten the cake before me. That would have not been on.

[identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com 2009-12-23 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I wasn't suggesting they could all have *your* cake, just that everybody ought to get *some* cake. Because, you know, cake.

[identity profile] mijan.livejournal.com 2009-12-23 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Cake is always good.

Does this make me a cupcake?

I cannot ever get over your epic fandom romance. It kills me every time. ♥

[identity profile] fiona-fawkes.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know about epic. Hardly anyone knew about it for quite a while. For the longest time, I kept it between me and my three closest fandom bffs. I still have the chat logs somewhere.

Also, we gets a lizard next year and that makes me smile. :D
