Authors: [profile] gone_ashore and [personal profile] mijan
Rating: R
Pairing: Kirk/McCoy
Word Count: 5,600 for part 7; 66,600 words total.
Warnings: Triggery. References to alien experimentation, graphic descriptions, mpreg.

Notes: This might surprise you, but neither of the authors particularly like most mpreg. So, why are we writing it? Because we wanted to turn the trope on its head. This is a subtle, complex look at the physical and psychological ramifications of forced pregnancy on a male through biomedical experimentation. The characters are not throwing a baby shower.

Part 6 )
mijan: (McCoy/Kirk: Don't Go Where I Can't Follo)
Title: "Aftershocks"
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Kirk/McCoy
Canon: ST:XI
Word Count: 2,728
Summary: Jim feels the aftershocks of a command decision.

Warnings and a note: As the title suggests, this fic involves an earthquake. I started writing this before the earthquakes in New Zealand. I put it aside for a few weeks, but when I completed it, it felt a bit more like a tribute to the people who went in and helped the victims of that tragedy. I understand that it still might feel a bit raw for some folks, hence the warning. There are no graphic descriptions, but read at your own discretion.

Aftershocks )
mijan: (Kirk walks into a bar...)
Title: "Morning After"
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Kirk/McCoy
Canon:  AOS
Word Count: 753
Summary:  ...and that's how Jim Kirk found himself bodily dumped onto the floor of Bones' dorm room, naked in more ways than one.

Notes: This was comment-fic, partially inspired by these pictures of Chris Pine and Karl Urban on the [livejournal.com profile] jim_and_bones  community, and partially from THIS fic I wrote last year, where the key paragraph reads:
Jim blinked. This made no sense. "Did I hit my head harder than I thought?" Jim mused aloud. "Don't get me wrong - I like this idea, but the one time anything ever happened between us, we were both drunk, and the next morning, you dumped me off your bed, onto the floor, and told me, and I quote, that I was 'too immature' and you didn't like 'entertaining juvenile delinquents' in your bed."

So here's the aftermath... the morning after Bones drunkenly entertained that juvenile delinquent in his bed.

Series: ST: XI
Character/Pairing(s): Kirk & McCoy, Pike, Scotty
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 140,000
Warnings: I beat the fucking shit out of Jim Kirk, and give you all the goddamned details. I also cuss a little bit.
Disclaimer: Gene Roddenberry is God, Paramount Pictures is Pope, and this is the blasphemy of a wayward faithful. My geeky spirit is rich, but my purse is empty.

Author’s Notes: This story is part of the Academy-era story arc, which includes Convergence and And All the King’s Men.”Crossfire” is a direct sequel. Several things in this story will not make sense unless you’ve read AAtKM first.  If you haven't read the other stories, before you start digging into this monster of a fic, only to find yourself asking, "What the fuck is he talking about?" please read at least AAtKM.  Better if you read both.

Please also note that with AAtKM, "Crossfire" is the second in a three-part Academy story arc.  AAtKM was the first part of the Academy trilogy.  The final part of the trilogy will be posted sometime next year.

This was written for the [livejournal.com profile] startrekbigbang  challenge.  Therefore, I was teamed up with a fanartist and fanmixer who created art and a soundtrack, respectively, for this story.  Please check out their work at the links below!

Summary: Jim Kirk and Leonard McCoy are on top of the world at the academy until it all comes crashing down around them. Trapped in their own mystery of politics, sabotage, and possible murder, it quickly becomes impossible to know who to trust. Worse, Jim might still be a target. With a dangerous criminal on the loose and Academy leadership not doing enough, Jim and Bones have to get their lives back together and find out what happened... before it happens again.

mijan: (To Boldly Go...)
Title: "Perspectives" (6/6)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] mijan
Rating: PG-13
Summary: "Perhaps it is nothing, Captain. However, I feel it prudent to mention that I have observed many reactions to death during the previous two years." "Go on, Spock."  "I have seldom witnessed a reaction as strong as the one exhibited by Doctor McCoy."
Canon: Based in the ST:XI universe, but strongly influenced by TOS.
Total Length: 33,000 words.
Characters: McCoy, Kirk, Spock, with ensemble appearances by Sulu, Uhura, a couple of random Ensigns, and most of the medical staff.
Links:  Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5
Disclaimer: Gene Roddenberry is God, Paramount Pictures is Pope, and this is blasphemy. Enjoy!
Notes: My immense thanks to my beta reader, [personal profile] classics_geek , and my test-reader, [personal profile] red_rahl . Also a quick thanks to [personal profile] lap_otter , who is supremely awesome and caught several glitches and typos I made.

On another note, I want to explain a couple of things about the fic, and why I wrote it the way I did.  For that, you've got to know a few things about how I see the characters, and WHY.  First of all, the characters are a combination of ST:XI and TOS.  I see them developing this way a couple of years into this reboot universe - maturing, becoming more blended with the older versions of themselves.

Character notes. You might find them interesting. )
So, without further delay...

From the previous installment:
Here, it didn't matter that he was broken – he was in the hands of the person who had fixed him. After a moment of stillness, Bones shifted. For a second, Jim was afraid he'd done something wrong, but then strong arms wrapped around him, and Bones was burying his face against Jim's neck and shaking.
"Bones, are you okay? Did I –"
Bones lifted his head for just a brief moment – the air on Jim's neck felt cool where tears were evaporating – just long enough to say, "Damn it, Jim, just shut up."
So he did.

And now the conclusion:

(The next few hours were spent talking about everything and nothing; all that mattered was that they were talking again. )

~FIN~
mijan: (Kirk had a blast)
Title: "Perspectives" (2/6)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] mijan
Rating: PG-13
Summary: "You call that alive?" he hissed. "Good God, Spock! Look at him. This is Jim! Doesn't that mean anything to you?" Spock has seen Doctor McCoy work on desperate cases before. He's seen him heal the Captain dozens of times. This time, the stakes are higher, and Spock gains a new perspective on what Kirk really means to McCoy, and what they both mean to him.
Canon: ST:XI, strongly influenced by TOS.
Characters: McCoy, Kirk, Spock, with ensemble appearances by Sulu, Uhura, a couple of random Ensigns, and most of the medical staff.
Notes: My immense thanks to my beta reader, [personal profile] classics_geek , and my test-reader, [personal profile] red_rahl . You guys are awesome!

Link to Part 1.

From the previous installment:

“Doctor, I would suggest that you sit down. The Captain’s vital signs have been stabilized. In contrast, yours are somewhat irregular.”
McCoy tried to think of a snappy jab to throw back, but his brain felt fuzzy. “I’m fine, Spock. I need to monitor Jim. We need to start synthesizing an antidote. We need to... to...” He felt himself stumble, and was barely aware of Spock’s hands supporting him, guiding him to a cot.
“Doctor McCoy, you have been running on adrenaline for the past hour, which has thus far countered the effect of the sedative toxin, but that has clearly run out.”
“But... Jim... I...”
“Fascinating – there is a logical use for adrenaline in humans after all.”
“Pointy… hobgoblin… need to… help Jim…”
He was out cold before he even reached the cot.

And now, the continuation:

Good God, Spock! Look at him. This is Jim! Doesn't that mean anything to you? )
